Finally got around to watching Children of Men (which was great), Cloverfield (which was good, but wish i'd seen it on the big screen), and Twilight.
That last one was mostly out of curiosity. Surprisingly, they'd done a reasonable job of making a movie out of it, but it was essentially just a below average buffy fan-fic.
You Don't know Jack.......(Al Pacino plays Jack Kavorkian) I liked it....Not for everyone but Al should get an award :)
And I re-watched Brazil :) Today as well GREAT movie
Last night I was going to pay for sex, but on the way out I noticed a movie just starting. Intrigued by its very strange opening sequence, I forgot what I was going to do and indeed why I was dressed to head out to the town.
90 minutes later, I realized this movie fucked me over better than any 2-bit whore could.
This movie was Eraserhead.

Does he act in it, or just do the Shouty Guy thing he's been doing recently? One of the most depressing things in movies is the way Al Pacino stopped acting and started being just Al Pacino. I still think his performance in The Godfather is the best ever.
and, OMG what happened to Susan Sarandon???? She used to be so hot!

Couple ones I really like:
-Brazil (1985) Favourite film ever!
-Short Cuts (1993)
-No country for old men (Coen brothers, they make a lot of good stuff! "The man who wasn't there", the "Big Lebowski"... )
-Cobra verde (1987) (Werner Herzog, another great director)
-Andrey Rublyov (1966) (movie by Tarkovsky)
-Le charme discret de la bourgeoisie (1975)
-DR. Strangelove or How I stopped worrying and love the bomb (1964)
The New Daughter is a horror film. I absolutely thought it would suck ballz (Mostly because my mom picked it, and she picked around 9 movies that sucked in a row.), but was pleasantly surprised. The ending was a giant fuck you and pretty good. Rent it.

akwater: And I re-watched Brazil :)

I have the music stuck in my head once in a while. And I saw the movie only once and years ago, so catchy.
A few months ago I watched an unassuming BBC drama / thriller called Fingersmith, which turned out to be one of the finest films I've seen. Despite its three-hour runtime, I was bolted to it from start to finish.
I watched it again last week, and realized that the script and performances can't be fully appreciated the first time around. One of the leads, in particular, turns in an astonishingly dextrous triple-edged performance.

I remember the fuss about that one from the Daily Mail. But I never watched it as it sounded like it was trying too hard for controversial. Maybe I misjudged it.

Just watched UP, which i got for my birthday a while back. As usual Pixar delivers with an awesome movie. Some parts were stunning, but I did feel like it was slightly missing something. V.funny in places too.

It's a somewhat dark film, but I can't say it made much attempt at controversy, at least not to my interpretation. The script is fairly matter-of-fact, though I'm sure some people would be riled by it regardless. Of course, that's just my take on it.
On the other hand, maybe it does try to stir something up, in a way that doesn't come across to an American viewer.

I saw Kick Ass the other day. I thought it was pretty good! Has anyone else seen it?

Yeah, liked it aswell. Though the mixture of realism and comic has very apparent cracks you need to forcefully ignore.
I seen those Star Wars Episodes I + II Reviews a couple weeks ago, they are 70-90 minutes long and are alot better than the films themself.
