Only... T2 was funnier, everyone in the cinema laughed at most of the jokes.

Last movie I saw was... I think Confessions of a Shopaholic. Retarded romantic comedy, that's all there is to it.. >.> I mostly just watched it because I didn't have much of anything better to do.
Favorite? Hah. I can't list just one, or even just 1 from every genre. I will list a couple of my favorites though:
Boondock Saints: A fun action movie with an amusing take on a typical plot.
V for Vendetta: What can be said about this movie? Beautifully done, excellent plot, and great action, along with some of the best lines ever.
Repo! The Genetic Opera: ... It's a bloody gory rock-opera! It's frelling AWESOME.
... I could keep going, but I won't.
Recommendations:
Repo! The Genetic Opera: As long as you're not an easily offended priss, or overly squeamish, this movie is well worth watching. Even if you dislike musicals, it's STILL worth watching.
Taking place in a dystopic future where first organ transplants become a common cure, but eventually transplants are the newest fashion statement. Elective surgery going further and further to a point where people will get 'designer organs'.
But what happens when they can't make their payments? GeneCo sends a Repo Man. Heee.
Our story revolves around Rotti Largo (head of Gene Co, played by Paul Sorvino), Nathan Wallace (The Repo Man, played by Anthony Stewart Head) and Shiloh Wallace (his unaware daughter, with an incurable(?) blood disease, played by Alexa Vega).
Well. Worth. Watching.

Transformers 2 was okay. It just wasn't anywhere near as good as the first one. It just felt like they were trying to do too much and wound up doing too little. The characters didn't gel as well as they did in the first one; the forced splitting up of Sam and his family, et. al., was pointless, especially as they were all just thrown back together again almost immediately.
The new characters introduced never really got the time to fit in to the story and may as well never been introduced in the first place; especially the dorm mate, even as comedic relief he was annoying and useless as crap. He had zero redeeming qualities and the screen time used up by him could have been put to better use.
The whole thing with the "cookies" and Sam's mum was another pointless part of the movie. It just simply wasn't needed and wasn't even all that funny.
Granted the entire college thing was probably just so they could trash the house, but it just didn't work.
Even the army guys seemed worse than in the first movie. They worked so well as a team in the first movie, but they just didn't get the chance to do that at all in this one. Which in turn, took well crafted characters and rendered them ultimately into card-board cutouts of their former selves. What a waste.
The only reedeming quality of the movie was some of the new action with the transformers, but even then, they had to go ruin it with annoying side kick characters(those autobot twins? Christ. Kill them already). As soon as they spoke all I could picture was Chris Tucker and his annoying as hell whiny never-ending voice.
Given that, I'm not holding out much hope that the third will be an improvement. I guess the old, sequels are rarely better than the original has proven true again. I'll probably wind up buying it on DVD though, but I'll be reaching for the mute button any time those annoying twins turn up.

I can only imagine what they'd do with "cookies" and "college roommates". shudder.
You know, even as a small kid, the thing that annoyed me most about the transformers cartoon was that annoying kid (chip?) was always the one who solved the problems... never the cool robots.
(at that time i totally failed to notice it was basically a big advert though ;-) )
I realise they put him in there to give kids someone to identify with, but even then i thought optimus was so much cooler than some annoying kid. (or bumblebee).
It's like they took the things i liked least about the cartoon and decided to amplify them for the movie. :-(

I thought the remake was okay, but it was a film that really didn't need to be remade.
Also, Sean Bean cannot do accents (see also, Silent Hill).

I prefer the remake to the original.

well to be honoust imho the humor is worse then the first. This is a popcorn movie mate, nothing more nothing less, great effects, lot of action and for me its just a lot of nostalgic memories. If you didnt like 1 stay away from 2. If you liked 1 then im sure you not gonna be dissapointed in 2 but its not as good as 1 , but still very doable.

Gran Torino -- Fantastic movie in every regard. One of my fav's on DVD this year so far. Just see it, if you haven't.
Confessions of a Shopaholic - Isla Fisher was great here. She was WAY better than the movie was. Not that the movie was bad, it wasn't -- it was often quite predictable like most rom-com's. It's just she basically stole the show and owned the role. Decent rom-com.
I'm trying to think of whatelse I've seen lately....hmmmm....
Let me think on that.

My perennial favorite will always be:
Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

I reckon Snatch is a vast improvement over this as it just works better.

I saw The Darjeeling Limited last night which is a pretty well made movie, and although I found The Life Aquatic to be funnier, the more I think about Darjeeling the more I like it. And I watched Noise today but was sorely disappointed by it, it was kind of a turd.
I hope you are kidding, the trailer alone made me want to cry.

I can see that, it's def a better movie, it's just that for some reason or other I laughed more with Life Aquatic. I saw Special today, which was not bad, but I was expecting a comedy I don't know why, and it was actually pretty sad.
I just looked at the cover and now know why I thought it was a comedy, it says on the fucking cover "laugh out loud funny." Which it most surely was not, it was kind of a sad movie.

Loved this film. Watched it when it first came out to DVD. Apparently there was some controversy over the DVD subtitles which the studio ended up fixing.
In any case it's a much darker and gritter vampire film than all this wussy stuff coming out for teenage girls. It also features kids who can act.
