At the end of the day, this is all abount playing a better looking video game. If having the best image and video quality is more important than your electric bill and your wallet. I suppose it might make sense to care. But being realistic, it boils down to time. You, the end consumer can wait(unless you have a terminal disease). Companies cannot. Just sit a year and play with crap graphics. A year later, yer sitting pretty witha cheaper card.

The current state of the economy is perfect for weaning people off of impulse buying. Even the darkest clouds have a silver lining. ;p
