Dalthnock: So what? Why am I being crucified over this?
jamyskis: Oh, I dunno. Probably because you linked to a white supremacist video and said, I quote, "It'd be a pity to lose all this."
I see no supremacy on the video. There is no comparison of races. I did say that & I stand by it. Now, do you know WHY I said it? I know what you thought, it's quite easy due to the way the thread went.
People are all turning their backs on their white heritage, as you can plainly see. And I question why, why are white people themselves so eager to abandon all this just to be "politically correct".
Germany is one of the countries that's turning their back on their history, due to shame for the WWII. Yes, it was horrible. But as far as I'm concerned, you've made up for it plenty. If it was up to me, I'd release you of your guilt, but it isn't. It's up to you.
Dalthnock: Tell me this is a lie: if the word white had been replaced with something else, you'd all be applauding. Please, tell me it's a lie.
jamyskis: Yes, it is a lie. If a Muslim had appeared on here and claimed that he was proud to be Muslim because he was better than all us infidel scum, the uproar would rightfully have been equally large.
Here's what a fair statement would look like:
I'm happy that I'm white. I'm happy because historically, whites have been dealt a better hand, whereas pretty much every other race has been screwed over by whites at some point. I'm not "proud" of being white, I've achieved little to deserve that pride, and being white doesn't make me superior.
No, it isn't a lie & here's why - you pulled out the better hand card. Back when Europe was being built, the influence of the white man on other races was minimal, if it even existed. They had the same hand back then. So fuck that noise.
jamyskis: I'm proud of being European. That doesn't make me superior to Arabs, or Jews, or Africans. It just means that my role models are people like Goethe, Shakespeare, Albert Einstein, Stephen Hawking, Isaac Newton, Anne Frank and Aristotle. Every race has its achievements - yes, including Arabs.
My pride is counterbalanced by a sense of responsibility - a responsibility to contribute to maintaining European values and learn from European mistakes. Part of those European values is treating everyone as an equal and individual and sharing European culture and hospitality.
I accept that people will come into Europe from foreign cultures, and it is my responsibility as a European to welcome the best features of those cultures while excluding those that are not compatible with European culture. Cultural assimilation has been the European way for over two millennia. I accept that every person is an individual and has the right to not be excluded on the basis of their race or religion, but to be judged by their actions.
I welcome Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Sikhs, and Spaghetti Monster worshippers who are willing to adopt or at least learn to adopt basic European values. Sure, it might not work off the bat - people might come from a patriarchal society and the sight of sparsely clad women or two men kissing on the street may be strange to them. Some manage it, some struggle with it, some strive to actively subvert it. I embrace the first, help the second and punish the third.
That is what being a patriot is about. I might not live up to the achievements of my fellow Europeans, but I'll try my hardest, and I'll be damned if I let European identity be corrupted by a bunch of freeloaders who believe that race and religion are a free pass to feel superior.
Again, where in any post of this thread, have I claimed superiority? YOU were the one who made that link yourself. It happened in YOUR mind. Look inside yourself for that bullshit.
And I don't have to apologise to other races because I never did anything to them. Again, fuck that noise.
Oh, I'm not religious by the way. Congratulations on making another connection you've been trained to make.
