Regarding newbie-friendly coding, I find AGK to be quite fun. It is good ol' BASIC, but optimized to also support HTML5, Android and it also got a pretty good VR plugin.
I meant for the learning of modern languages such as python, javascript. Something like codecombat but yet different. I consider that I'd created something yourself in the engine Godot. But it won't be soon
