I tried editing Baldur Gate's save file via a hex editor and wound up with damaged unusable files. Thank goodness I made back-ups first. After I beat a game a couple times, I like to edit the save file and alter attributes to make the game harder or become an unstoppable force. Pretty much to have fun trying different ways to enjoy the game. Is it possible to edit the save file? Thanks for the help.

Which one? Baldur's Gate 1, 2 or 3 ? Classic or Enhanced?

For the old infinity engine games (BG1, BG2, IWD, PS:T) there are lots and lots of tools for almost everything. I think I used a Java-based editor called "Near Infinity" back then when I played BG1 classic. I don't know what you'd need for the newer Enhanced editions. Just use the internet search.

Baldur's Gate 3 is a wholly different beast, though.

For BG EE and BG2 EE there is EE keeper to edit save files

Oops. Sorry about that. It's Balder's Gate 1 for the PC. I purchased it right here on this awesome site. And it appears to be the classic version. Or I guess one could say the Playstation 2 version.

Update:

Near Infinity does not work. Asks for an Infinity key file.

BG EE does not work. I guess because it's Baldur's Gate:Dark Allience.

Can you not edit GOG games save files?
