Gearbox has added a countdown timer at the official website of Duke Nukem, hinting towards a September 1st unveil for a new Duke Nukem project. However, it appears that the Internet has just spoiled Gearbox’s surprise as we’ve got the title, the first details and the first screenshots for this upcoming Duke Nukem project.

In order to celebrate Duke Nukem 3D’s 20th anniversary, Gearbox will release a “Redux” (Remaster, Remix, you_call_it_as_you_want) version of Duke Nukem 3D, called Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour.

Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour will keep the 2D sprites of Duke Nukem 3D, will feature better lighting effects, will come with new/original content, and you can view below its first leaked screenshots.

Naturally, and since this has not been confirmed yet, we strongly suggest taking it with a grain of salt.

As said, Gearbox will officially reveal the new Duke Nukem project on September 1st, so stay tuned for more!

nightcraw1er.488: Chuckle. I wouldn't support this if you paid me. Duke was here for ages, they are responsible for removing it from stores. The latest in the series Forever was pretty dreadful. And now there is a new one, how PC'ified will it be? Not too mention a "remaster" of the originals. So no, zero interest, I have all the DN games that have any worth.
To add, its gearbox, it won't come here.
There's alot of games i thought wouldn't come here. I agree i'd sooner have the original games than remasters i hope when duke does return we get Life's a Beach, Duke It Out In D.C. & Nuclear Winter expansions.

Are gearbox funny about releasing there games here or do they hate drm free in genral.

Grargar: Homeworld Remastered (by Gearbox) on GOG is not impossible, but Duke Nukem 3D Remastered (by Gearbox) on GOG is impossible? OK.

Looks great. Would've been ever cooler had they increased the quality of the skyboxes while they were at it.

Eh, doesn't interest me. A new Duke game maybe, even if it was a different genre like Manhattan Project.

Looks like Gearbox need some easy moneys after Battleborn tanking, which is a little unfair as I hear it's actually not a bad game at all. But seriously, release a competing product the same month as Blizzard, you're just asking for failure even if your product is just as good.

Shoulda done like Quake and Doom and released a free new episode, maybe with new Jon St. John audio.

EDIT: "new/original content" - fair enough, hopefully it's at least fun to play.

The orchestra version of the Duke theme blew me away when I first saw this trailer, and that was only 5 or 6 years ago. ;)

I read the title as Duke Nukem 3d world and got the mental image of a duke platformer with him in a cat suit.

looks like Duke Nukem 3D with a "mod" with a few extra levels. eDuke32 with the HRP looks better than the screenshots posted and it has "As a result, we are counting 109 addons with over 1.100 levels now. " http://hrp.duke4.net
