The port is OK at best. I don't like the overdone lighting and the sound quality downgrade is atrocious while re-recorded Duke lines are a mixed bag.

The level design in Alien World Order is excellent, so is the musical score. Unfortunately the incinerator weapon is dumb and impractical, and the firefly enemies are a complete joke with explosives.

And the game ended up with a wimper, not a bang, because the final boss is the definition of PATHETIC.

Overall, not super-bad as many Gearbox haters would preach, but it's not the best it could've been, and just getting it for new episode is too pricey. Wait for sale.

darthspudius: It's times like these where I laugh at all the bitching and moaning that went on for the likes of Grim Fandango which does play better, sound better and control better. But some nostalgic fools wanted the old broken very inferior version for full price.
Except in this case the sound is even more muffled and lower bitrate then the original DOS, and we've had eDuke to make Duke play and look better for many years now with a dedicated community of mappers and modders making things far better then the extra level set here, which Randy has said is worth $20 alone and everything else is just "extra", and all previous owners of Megaton Edition, which included the long lost expansion sets that this World Tour doesn't have, don't even get a discount, to which I say fuck you very much.

So if you enjoy letting Randy ram you in the ass until you're shitting out blood then be my guest. Go ahead and pay for his guitar lessons. But there are actual issues and scummy customer tactics going on and people are rightfully upset.

I would only buy this on sale for about 80 percent.

The sound quality of this port is horrendous, the new levels are nice I have to say
and before you ask no I did not buy it and I will leave it at that.

In short, keep your GOG version, get Eduke and enjoy.

The 5th ep is nicely done, the true 3d rendering is also cool. but those two are not worth 20bux at all.

Wait till Eduke32 supports this content and move on, pick it up in a sale if it ever is available on a sale.

Best purchase i have ever made, just before they removed it from gog, on that special discounted sale! Old is good, GOG is better!
Some of the new levels look really cool. I always loved how interactive Duke Nukem 3D was.

Fairfox: Poor Dukey is in free-fall.
he has been since 1997
Would be fun to try when it drops in price. Too bad it doesn't contain the whole pack that was released a couple years back, though.

From what I'm reading it's half-baked like the rest of their games.

darthspudius: What reviews were you reading? I have seen some fairly positive feedback, one even said that the new levels were excellent.
I would like to see Duke back here on GOG. To bad he got pulled.

I honestly couldn't care less. I bought the game when it was on sale and if others failed to do so, tough titties!
