Hey all. This is not a GOG game yet but I digress. I have the DVD version of DL and it will play on my PC and let me adjust the settings. However, once it starts playing there seems to be no way to control it (it's really for a normal DVD player and a remote or a console). On PC though it just doesn't seem controllable.

Any ideas?
On a regular DVD player, the game is played using the navigation buttons on the remote, yes?

Depending on the software you're using to play the DVD on your PC, there might not be an equivalent button scheme, as DVD navigation is generally accomplished using the mouse instead.
Hrm... the windows version of lirc perhaps?

I have to admit, I've never ever heard of a game being made for a DVD player to be played with the remote, that is just epic bizarre. :)

I'd also try using vlc player if you haven't already and maybe googling around for tips for vlc to perhaps get it rocking and rolling, as well as similar for kodi.

They released a number of the old laserdisc games on DVD years ago. I have Dragon's Lair, DL 2, and Space Ace, and yup, you use the remote as a controller. Come to think of it, I should try them on a computer to see how they work...

Crazy, I never heard of that before. If someone would have told me such a thing was coming out I wouldn't have believed them at first, but I guess it isn't that surprising afterall. Do they have http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0267496/ also? :)

I don't believe so, possibly because of the movie license? Aside from the Don Bluth games, I remember seeing stuff like Mad Dog McCree and Kingdom: The Far Reaches. Looks like there's a list of the DVD games here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Leisure#DVD.2C_Blu-ray_and_HD_DVD
Thanks for help but I never had much luck with this.

I have the DVD version of Space Ace, and I do have a recollection of being able to play it on Windows on some generic DVD player. Maybe it was even the cursor keys that happened to work for that game. It was a long time ago though, could have been in Windows XP, 2000 or even 98SE.

But it may depend on the exact DVD player software that you try to use, what kind of "remote" controls it uses.
