I am posting here about a curious issue i just got with gog downloader, i don't want to use galaxy, period , and the downloader worked perfectly fine until yesterday that i used to download a game

Now however the server deny access to the downloader despite being sure the login are correct, and the manual download constantly interrupt or straight out fail

As anyone else similar problems? Possible solutions, without using galaxy?

Browser download still works. I know some use downthemall plugin for that downloader feel.

I can't say what your problem is or offer a solution, but I can say it's not the downloader nor the server. I just got notification that X3:Terran War Pack was updated and it's downloading, with GOG Downloader, right now as I type this. I have downloaded over 300 games with the downloader and never had any issues.
The problem still persist, at least here, i can't login with my credentials on the downloader, it tell me the password is wrong, despite my credentials are the same that permitted me to login and write this here

Just to verify a possible issue, i changed my password and renewed my id here on gog, and i am able to get in no problem, but the downloader still refuse to login, i finally managed to download the game i wanted with only 4 interruptions/resume, considering that usually i just can't download a 4gb package from here manually at all, tonight was good

I asked for alternatives but it seems there are none, and for now no one reported similar issue so, somehow it must be me? Why access denied tough? It's not the connection that fail, it's the login

I suppose i can only wait till tomorrow and see if someone else has similar problems or if for some reason are limited to my account

Perhaps doing this will help? And if not, perhaps doing a complete uninstall, deleting any leftover files and folders, then re-downloading the GOG Downloader and installing it anew will.
I still hold on to hope that GOG will someday go back and officially support their downloader for those that are not interested in Galaxy.

Of course, I am still quite happy with GOG with their games and customer service!

I'm not trying to be an ass, but it's very unlikely that will ever happen. The downloader has for the most part been replicated into Galaxy (still not perfect though) and supporting two pieces of software that can essentially do the same things just adds more overhead and cost.

You are 100% right, and your reply is very accurate. I guess I was holding out on hope. :)
Ugh, Downloader stopped working for me just now. It just says "connecting..." and then never connects. I'm on Windows XP 32bit so Galaxy isn't even an option for me, officially. When Galaxy first came out, the blues said that Downloader would still work but development would cease. I really wish they would reconsider their decision to disable the Downloader, what's the harm in allowing people to still use it, especially those on platforms that don't support Galaxy. Browser downloads suck for GOG.
I'm downloading Jade Empire: Special Edition, via downthemall, keep getting server errors, maybe gog are forcing us to use that galaxy thing..

Or you know they are just getting server issues right now... last weekend was brutal in Galaxy, constant connection issues. The server even went down for a bit, meaning nobody could play online. Conspiracy theories don't help. :P

So maybe Downloader isn't dead for good? I'll be tentatively excited about that since it worked last week.

After it executes some political espionage, it can only handle one conspiracy at a time!
How many of you will still be clutching at the straws of this downloader on Win XP in 15 years time? Because Galaxy Grrrr! :P

Keep in mind also that everyone using the software does not connect to a single central server that is either working or not working, but rather to a CDN comprised of several computers distributed regionally, so if something works for one person it may not work for someone else even if that one person has never ever had a problem, and if something fails for someone once or 1000 times, someone else might never experience the same problem because both people are not necessarily connecting to the same computer systems to download. The majority of failures one is likely to experience are not all or nothing, but specific to certain circumstances which can include a specific machine on the CDN, the person's ISP or other factors.

Contacting GOG support if you have problems downloading is usually the best bet as all you'll generally get in the forums is "works fine for me" from most people as problems tend to not be widespread when they occur, but the only way to get them fixed is for GOG to know someone is experiencing an issue via support. Incidentally, it works for me. But... it failed to download Witcher 3 a few weeks ago for me while someone else wasy able to download it no problem.
