Maybe that's why they start renaming their games now, adding something like "classic".

In several countries there are legel problems with identical names, btw.
In Germany film titles must be unique for example. I doubt it affects games as well, but if so then only because that law was written before games existed.

Who knows? ;) But the name could also be changed because of the Doom Enhanced games released as a separate entries in the library. :)

Edit: My bad. I haven't checked my library before posting. Only the first Doom has a year in store title, while the old entries in the library have still the same name (The Ultimate Doom and Doom II).

Prey stubbornly refuses to turn into Prey (2017).

One of the recent reviews says that it no longer includes the original WAD and no longer works with the open-source ports. Could someone check that?

(I'm not buying it on Gog, because I've already got a copy that came on 3.5" floppies.)

I bought Doom and Doom II years ago. The update added separated listings for DOOM I Enhanced and DOOM II Enhanced respectively, but the original games remain untouched.
According to the store listing new owners receive both versions as well.

I'm not sure about that unless you mean movies. Here is my final argument, taken directly from my Steam library. What else is there to be if not Doom (2016), I don't really know.

Yes, indeed there are quite enough games with the same naming and not always from the same franchise holders / publishers. I thought the situation of having 3 different movies with the same naming and the same country (let's say USA) is quite common whilst very rare for games. It seems I was wrong.
