example 1:

old installer: setup_shadowrun_dragonfall_directors_cut_2.1.0.7.exe
new installer: setup_shadowrun_dragonfall_2.0.9_(9992).exe

example 2:

old installer: setup_ftl_advanced_edition_2.3.0.13.exe
new installer: setup_ftl_-_advanced_edition_1.5.13_(9345).exe

installer numbers are counted backwards these days?

You can find a kind of an (unofficial) explanation here (and subsequent posts).

I you don't already, I suggest you to keep an eye on that thread for details on updates. :)

Just a case of GOG causing mass customer confusion with no rational reason for the most part. It's been explained elsewhere but the explanations don't add up nor make any sense really. Plus it is inconsistent, depending on what game you are looking at.

Big mess.

It works like this:

FTL 2.3.0.13 was GOG's old way of versioning the games.
FTL 1.5.13 is the actual game version as in if you write "FTL 1.5.13" on google, you will find the release notes for that version.

I for one am glad to see this happening.

EDIT: Just to confirm that skeletonbow is correct, this isn't present in all games, many of them still use the old numbering.

me too
if they actually will use that scheme everywhere that would be like the best thing GOG did in recent years :p
those (current) nonsensical version numbers need to go.
I downloaded installers for Ceville and Postal with the new version-numbering system, and neither of them gets the big, round icons anymore after installation :(

Let me start over.
Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less.
Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three.
Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three.
Five is right out.
