I know it takes up some to download it but does it take up any to use it sadly I have a low GB cap thanks to where I live??
It doesn't use more data than steam or other launchers. You could just use it for downloading your games. Then play them without Galaxy. This is what I do for all my games.

What is your cap? I used to have 1T cap but never went over it.

Better question: how troubling is it for you that GOG Galaxy has a backdoor for nefarious unknowns to hack your computer if you download it?

Wouldn't this be the same for all launchers?

I wish I had a 1T cap sadly thanks to living out in the boondocks I have to use Hughes net and my cap is 50 GB a month
I imagine that GOG uses as much as any other website when you're downloading things. And if you do something clever like wget or curl, you might save even more data over doing something stupid like running an unwarranted launcher client programme.

Stick to the classics and use direct download methods. You'll save bandwidth out the wazoo.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere? Hughes is satellite correct? Could try using a download manager for your browser to direct download games from the website.

Even if that's true, Galaxy is the optional one. One backdoor is better than two!

Click the cogwheel in the top left and choose Settings, then Game Features. Uncheck "Cloud saves" there.
Some sets of saves can be quite large. GOG Galaxy apparently will in some cases sync other content that's in the respective parent folder, like screenshots.

Other than that, most of the traffic will be from installing games and downloading extras. Some sections are equivalent to browsing a web page (Overview, Discover, Store, All Games, etc.). Achievements and game time tracking are negligible.

If that is the case, then you are between a rock and a hard place and not going to get a lot of joy, especially as some games are far larger than that.

I would suggest only downloading the Offline Installers, limiting things to just necessary elements downloading, not adverts etc etc. Every web page is full of automatic downloads, and many like GOGs are full of bloat these days, eating away at your 50 GB, even in the pages etc Galaxy would present. That said, depending on the quality of your connection you would not want to waste things on failed downloads, so Galaxy could be a safer bet overall.

It would and to my knowlege Epic one is the worst, when it comes to outdated stuff.
Funny enough, shouldn't it be the most recent or is that the current Galaxy.

Sounds like some tin-foil hat tier paranoia. Ridiculous claims like that require evidence if they are to be believed... especially when you're leveling accusations like that against a company like GoG with a reputation for protecting consumer's rights.

What are you, some kind of conspiracy nut? :)

Tinfoil hat paranoia? Ridiculous? Why is it you require no evidence or justification for these claims? Based on your post, and a little research, I would be more inclined to trust him than you. You sound like you might have some kind of bias.

The slightly spooky part is, I looked for the thread discussing this on these forums and found nothing.
