Well, it would appear the original developers are selling it, so they must have wrested it out from beneath the publisher, unless the GOG gamecard is lying to us.

Activision Publishing ceased to exist recently, (That's just Microsoft now) and the other two publishers went defunct in the 2000s. 1C Company reorganized into Fulqrum Publishing, which is currently one of the thumbs that Tencent has in the pies.

MEGA Enterprise Co., Ltd. vanished under suspicious circumstances after filing for bankruptcy and probably wasn't a legitimate company.
