Who are doing what?

You've been registered here longer than me, old timer. Moderation on the forums has always been pretty minimal. :P

I think it's bloody hilarious that someone has downrated all posts that don't conform to the view of "Get this off GOG right now".
Apparently that is not allowed, sorry.

Everybody who simply downrates a post without any explanation imo is a coward and obviously not able to express their arguments ... or they simply don't have any. I wonder how proud they are feeling that they were at least able to press a button. Yes, I have nothing left but disgust and maybe a bit pity for those. Maybe someday they will grow up eventually and if they are lucky they might even get hired and make money ... but honestly - I doubt it.

(This is my honest opinion about a certain behaviour that has become common here on GOG ... so I am not quite sure if this post is against the forum policy or not ... but it's true nonetheless - even if it might get moderated :))

This is why it's more hilarious than anything else. It's this expression of impotent rage "I'll low rate their posts, that'll show them!" as if it's something that should upset me. If it's really being done by a script as some speculate, well that's just even more sad.

Actually, it looks like someone is blanket downvoting the entire thread - or maybe there are two factions in competition? Whatever it is it's ridiculous.

I wonder how they would be able to tell who won - it's not like the number of downvotes is shown...

Everyone knwos rep is meaningless, and the mass-downvotes are ridiculous of course, but still I would not make such blanket judgments. For one thing, downvoting is the only way to hide posts. And sometimes you may just want to be able to easily skip someone's rambling rants or annoying trolling the next time you open a thread. For another, I don't think arguing with people online should ever be seen as a mark o "courage" and not doing so "cowardice". That's pretty silly, honestly. Are we really obliged to argue with an obvious troll or some political/religious fanatic so as no to be "cowards"? It's a waste of time and energy, there's nothing "cowardly" about not wanting to play chess with a pigeon*. Sometimes it's better to just press a meaningless red button to get it out of your system and move on. And this is coming from someone often downvoted simply for expressing an unpopular opinion, and often for I don't even know what.

One could simply scroll instead of bringing someones posts down just to hide a post.

I never had a problem simply scrolling a bit ... I did not even hurt a muscle by doing this difficult task. ;)

Is ist? So what is the point in downrating without telling soembody WHY you have downrated a certain post and maybe even explaining that the one you downrated might have an opinion they should think about again with those new information you have? What is the point in clicking a button just to say "no"? I never did this since 2009. I always was able to explain what I did and why. I always explained when and why I disagreed and I will continue to do so. Some people have so much energy when it comes to politics or sexual orientations or whatever. They can explain themselves for pages - but if they disagree it is too much to ask "why"? Isn't that the whole idea in a discussion? Reading different opinions and sharing why they differ and in which ways?

And why press the button in the first place? Why not just "moving on" as you said? Do you HAVE to hit something or what is it? Sorry for me this feels as if a brute hits somebody in the face just because he does not have any arguments. But at least he showed the other guy that "he is stronger". If you don't want to play chess with a pigeo - ignore the pigeon - it won't hurt you.

Sorry, I doubt we'll find a common ground here (if it were up to me GOG would kill this downrate button right now ...) - but thank you for trying.

I think it's bloody hilarious that the staff implemented this troll-prone feature instead of, for example, displaying the possibility of control rebinding on a game page.

Or instead of anything else really...
And I'm still waiting for them to improve... I'm sure they can do better than their own country... after all they started all this drm free stuff and stuck to it... I'm sure they can do better for people themselves.

Oh definitely, you'll not see me defending the post rating system and I'm a big fan of control rebinding too.
