today I wanted to play again and could not load the last savegame...how is that possible? The game wants to start from the beginning

Don’t use clients and leave third party online companies to organise your data? If you want to save save games, copy the files or folders from the save game location and back them up yourself. Sorry if that sounds less than helpful, how could we possibly debug it?

Yeah, that online saves are tempting until they ruin your saves.
