UPDATE: Heads up! There are 24h left, so now is the time to take advantage of the amazing deals and upgrade your collections. Eyes on the price, Boo, eyes on the price!

Years ago, the Baldur's Gate series changed the way we look at gaming and the scope of what was considered possible. Even now, the legacy continues through the Enhanced Editions – thanks to the hard work and years of updates to keep the inimitable Infinity Engine living on.

It's the work on the Enhanced Editions that made <span class="bold">Siege of Dragonspear</span> possible – the just-released, massive expansion to the timeless classic, available only for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition.

"The team at Beamdog was able to breathe a new life into the Infinity Engine classics." says Greg Tito, Communications Director for Dungeons & Dragons "We're proud to recognize their excellent work in offering the best possible experience and support for these legendary titles. We want these to become the definitive editions – featuring both the enhanced and classic versions of the games."

On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected.

"We're excited to take our commitment and support to Baldur's Gate and GOG fans to the next level and humbled to work with such great partners. The Definitive Edition Bundle will give every Baldur's Gate fan what they're looking for" – concludes Cameron Tofer, Beamdog COO.

In the near future, we're also looking forward to full GOG Galaxy support for achievements in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition – as well as in the Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be 75% off until April 4 11:59 PM PDT / April 5 2:59 AM EDT/ 7:59 BST and 60% off until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 60% discount for Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST. The 85% discount for owners of the original saga will last until April 29 10:59 AM PDT / 1:59 PM EDT / 18:59 BST.

Many people stillpoint out bugs in the latest versions of both BG1EE and BG2EE (obviously those bugs were created by Beamdog. Earlier versions were barely playable). I don't think they will ever get to fix ALL the bugs they created. Besides, the UI seems to change with every patch, which is infuriating because it looks worse and worse every time they change it. Those fonts and colors are fucking horrible, it's like they got an 8yo goth kid to design it on MSPaint.
And as a side note, remember the wishlist has some entries for the separation of the enhanced editions and the original games:

<Sarcasm>Obviously those bugs were created by Beamdog. There certainly weren't any bugs in the original!</sarcasm>
Yeah, Beamdog fixed some of the original bugs, and introduced some new ones. It's been pretty good for me since the release of 1.3.

The UI hasn't changed with every patch. Maybe had some tweaks or improvements. The version 2 UI is the first actual "Change" since the EE's were first released.

I don't mind it. It was a little jarring when I first fired it up, just becuase the colours are so different from the version 1.x UI. I've come to appreciate it's minimalism.

Is there anywhere I could find a comparison between the new and old Enhanced Edition UI?

Another Beamdog marketing plant I see.
They introduced TONS of bugs, NONE of them were in the original, and the gog versions were probably the most stable releases they ever have on store. You are simply lying. BG2EE is still half bugged, and while BG1EE isn't unplayable anymore, it still has a lot of bugs like 4 years after its release. They beat Bethesda when it comes to buggy games.

And come on, the UIs they introduces are horrendous. Nobody denies this.

Somehow I've managed to play through both games several times without problems, but hey, thanks for calling me a liar.

Disappointing to see the proper games get merged with the Rubbish Editions. Now I see why the originals hadn't been going on sale, retail versions for me it is.

You can compare the two EE interafaces just by looking at the GOG screenshots. The BG:EE screenshots haven't been updated, and show the older V1.x UI:

BG1:EE

The screenshots for Siege of Dragonspear show the newer V2.x UI:

Siege of Dragonspear

The in-game changes are really just colours. There are some bigger changes to the Character Creation screan, and other menus. Apparently, the big change with the UI is the in the backend, and it is now moddable.

You know your "enhanced" edition is garbage when you have to bundle it with the original to make people buy it. Shows how much faith Beamdog have in their work. At least they haven't "enhanced" Planescape: Torment... yet.

For those interested in contacting Hasbro about the bundling of the classics, go to http://corporate.hasbro.com/en-us/consumer-care
You can email, chat or call - I emailed (please remember to be polite). Here's the email I sent and the reply I got (it may not seem like much, but the more of us that let them know, the better the chance the bundling will be reversed).

This is in regards to the bundling of classic Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 and Icewind Dale with the EE (Enhanced Edition) versions from Beamdog on GOG.com. I'd just like to say that I and many others aren't happy that we can't buy, review, rate, etc the classics separately anymore. We don't want the EE versions, but if we don't already own the classics we have to pay twice the price (was $9.99 for classics, $19.99 for EEs) to get them *and* support games and a company we're not interested in.

The classics were in the top sellers list, as you can see here (I have to use the Archive website because the classics are no longer shown separately on GOG since being bundled): https://web.archive.org/web/20160416185118/https://www.gog.com/games?sort=bestselling&amp;page=1
I don't know where the EEs are in the list, but they've been around long enough to get the positions they deserve. This is seen by myself and many others as nothing more than a way for Beamdog to make extra sales from people who don't even want their editions, not to mention boosting their ratings and position in the Best Seller list artificially.

Here is the announcement on GOG about the merging of the classics into the EE versions, as nothing more than a bonus, and the many and varied comments (some have no problem, some are very upset and won't ever buy the EE versions even if they don't already own the classics): https://www.gog.com/forum/general/definitive_edition_bundle_baldurs_gate_i_ii_icewind_dale_cabe2

Please allow the classics to be sold separately again. Thank you.

No, this company reached unfathomable lows, thanks to those rubbish editions... They enforced censorship (especially on steam, besides their own forums) to people criticizing the game and telling their opinion on what they did not like, they arbitrarily DELETED a multitude of negative reviews and wait, there is lower... They BEGGED for positive reviews publicly and BRIBED players with free game, in order to testify positive score and opinions!!!

God, how glad i am that gog accepted to refund all my beamdog garbage... I bought their cr@p before, wellwishing that they would invest this money in developing a proper Baldur's Gate 3 and not a Baldoor's Gayte Godawful Crap Edition, a.k.a. Siege of Dragonspear, full of new bugs and broken multiplayer! They deserve to be panned... It is pathetic and sad, colossus devs of the past full of talent and great performance go bankrupt and closing down, while modern ding-dang-dung donkeys strike it rich by abusing classic games and sell out twisted garbage to the masses! As a gamer, i am appalled and horrified, for life!

This is quite a disturbing thing to hear about. The enhanced editions must be quite awful if they have to stoop to that level. It also says something about the developer when they try and censor these negative opinions instead of utilizing them to improve the game or future games.
