Plasticine879: Are they patching already existing games, or giving an alternative 'patch' to download, that corrects compatibility issues?
They're updating some older games with fixes found online or made by their staff. If their efforts don't work for a particular user then that user must get the older unmodded version off of galaxy.

Then I'm not for it.

(I prefer keeping the original game files as unchanged as possible. Breaking retrocompatibility can't be called preserving)

There's no catch. :P
Well.. actually, the catch is that all of these points are serious opinions on what GOG could do to improve.

"But wait....there's more!"
In the survey they are floating the idea of providing older games versions as offline installers....for those who pay for it.

So are you saying they want us to pay twice for it, or am I missing something?

Curently you can download old installer versions from galaxy, but gog is floating the idea of also giving the same 'perk' to browser downloaders if they pay a fee. Le comedy or le tragedy?

I admit, I was out of the loop and didn't know what all this talk about subscriptions was about. I mean really? GOG made like half a billion a return on Cyberpunk alone. They don't need us to buy them a pizza, now they want to charge subscriptions (essentially paying twice) for a game we already bought? Does that sum it up? Cause yeah, big no from me, and LOL @ GOG.

I have the perfect GIF for this but don't know how to include images in posts. Ah well....

@ GOG; you've got a good thing going. I only came here cause of DRM free games and offline downloads. I chose you over Steam. Don't ruin it.

If you buy a game and the current offline installer version doesn't work you can only download an older version free through galaxy. Gog floated the idea of also allowing access to download links for older installer versions of games one owns via paying a monthly subscription fee.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yeah, no thanks.

Gog (prolly) be like:

"Want rollback for game installers on the website? That'll be five bucks"
"Want forum badges and colored usernames? That's a tenner m8"
"Access to a special forum for whales? Only 19.99!"

P. Zimerickus: lol!

just went through the options for the first time and i have to say.. I would like to see my nickname in other people's high score lists ;-)

Of course not for the highest score ever, just to show i'm also a PREMIUM member :p and who knows, maybe others will feel good when confronted with other people's low scores

Syphon72: Was the survey creators under the influence when making it? Why would anyone want to pay for that? I expressed in the survey that none of the offerings are worth a subscription.

If GOG wants subscription it should be like something with Humble bundle when you get few games a month. Yes, you get to keep those games from humble bundle once you unsubscribe but that's really all GOG has to offer for subscription.

If they start hiding features behind a subscription then you can say goodbye GOG. No one will pay for that.
i'm not sure...... i guess, like most here i'm very sensitive when it comes to paying money for something.....

So atm i'm contemplating a DI radio subscription which I probably will pay for, and a YouTube subscription which i might pay for if they install their budget option again...

Purely from a practical standpoint, i spend a good amount of time watching youtubes, especially the tech ones, and every day i listen to DI radio in my car. I'm sure i want to support DI radio but... Youtube, Google in fact..... That is a good one, If i could specify the directions my money would go to on youtube e.g. only the video's i watch i prob would be cool.... on the other hand, my father would turn around in his grave if he would know i spend money on whores, either male or female so yea....

With GoG in mind, i do spend time on the forum, though mostly minutes a day and i would support something in that manner, especially if they manage to create, more fairness.... So for example, not only at least message with people that scream and swear out loud but also talk to the ones that spread their venom within the guidelines of the community... both are wrong, we all know that. We should not punish the 'weaker for what ever reason even if its temporary, ones for their lack of insight .... but we do need to talk :)

Plasticine879: GOG made like half a billion a return on Cyberpunk alone.
To be fair, CDP made that on Cyberpunk, not GOG, and since CDP owns GOG, it's not only possible but actually very likely that GOG didn't even get to keep their usual 30% cut from whatever part of those sales were made through them (which were a minority anyway)..

You can't, at least if you mean actually including images that are directly displayed. (And I'm glad of it, animated GIFs are awful!) You can, however, attach images, up to 500 KB / file or 2 MB / post, and whoever's interested can click to see them.

^^ @Cavalary;

I get what you're saying, but my point was, CDPR made a killing off of Cyberpunk alone. The thread here that said let's buy GOG a pizza, I thought piss off. They don't need our money. Let them buy their own pizza. The agreement is, I buy a game from you, I am supposed to have access to the (supposedly DRM free) game I bought. That is the transaction.

I don't feel charitable, and CDPR doesn't need my money. Get what I'm saying? This subscription bulls**t is nonsense (from what I understand of it).
