I am just discovering the Dark Disciples RPGs from Dodgysoft and think they are awesome. Unfortunately there are no downloads available at the site anymore, despite the last post being from December last year. I had to download the game from one of those abandonware sites, so I won’t post a link here. But if you are interested you can just google: >"Dark Disciples" download<. The games were and are freeware so this should be ok.

Here’s the problem, though. Some of the puzzles and riddles in the games just elude me. According to the website and the manual, there are hint and walkthrough files for both games, but as I said, they cannot be downloaded from the site anymore. If anyone by chance still has these files, it would be awesome if they could share them here for me and anyone else interested in the game. (I already asked Google, but didn't find anything, and the e-mail on the Dodgysoft website doesn't work.)

The games are really worth it, I think, especially if you like Spidersoft’s games like Geneforge and the like.

Thank you very much. The linked site has some broken links as well, but the hint and walkthrough files for Dark Disciples 1 are still there at the time of writing.

I just checked, and the walkthrough for Dark Disciples 2 seems to be included in the download of the second game. I think I’m all set now to unravel the last mysteries of the first game and then jump right into the second one.

I remember that GOG community member Piranjade advertised the bonus/demo campaign Temple of Eternity here some years ago and said it was created by a friend of hers. Maybe you could try and contact her, ask her if she's still in touch with him? If you're lucky he might have some leads or archived stuffs (including his own campaign) since he appeared to be a fan, too?

If you try to play these games, be sure to use DxWnd. Place the program files somewhere, open it up, and then drag & drop your Dark Disciples executable into the window. DD2 was previously broken on Windows 7, but DxWnd fixed my problem.

Figured I would mention my fix, to help ensure the game(s) being preserved.

These games are fantastic and they all work perfectly fine on my Win7-system! I'm at Temple of Eternity at the moment. Last year I played DD2 (never finished DD1 though). What an adventure it was! The different climates and cultural backgrounds, the giant world, the many hidden secrets, the "real" rpg-experience (different skills allow different solutions), the overall story (while not totally original, it was presented highly motivating), the free development of your character. I played several weeks on DD2, it's quite a giant game with much to offer and many side quests. These games are the best and most impressive way to show that graphics aren't all and that a good game transcends it's technical limitations. 'm sure I'll come back to DD2 in the near future and try my luck with a different character build. While most modern RPGs simply bore me (never finshed PoE, Wasteland 2, Divinity etc.), these games evoke a real feeling of adventure and stimulate my imagination. :)

Sorry, I know this is an old thread but there is so little information about those games, that wanted to post it here.

Concerning DD2, I've played few hours so far and it's seems fun, maybe a little on simplistic side but cool nonetheless.

Two important things, on Windows 10 it's necessary to set compatiility to Windows Vista, then drop DD2 exe file on dxwnd window, otherwise it may hang on starting screen or not start at all.
Second, version available on abandonware sites gives one warning on virus scans. It's probably a false positive, but important to know.
