As of the pre-order launch for Phantom Liberty, we’d like to inform you about the update to the current system requirements, to ensure that players have a better understanding of what will be needed to run Cyberpunk 2077, and make it easy to assess the expected performance. These changes will take effect following the next update to the base game, no earlier than 90 days, and also apply to Phantom Liberty.

The new system requirements are designed to be more up to date, adding support to new GPUs not available at launch, and targeting a resolution output of either 1080p or 4K for specific in-game presets.

The changes to the minimum requirements are a reflection of our new standard of requirements, which we believe better represent the minimum PC configuration required to run the game at 1080p, while maintaining an average of 30 FPS at low preset. The reason for making these changes is that updating the requirements is an important part of the game improvement process, and of enhancing and adding new features.

One of the changes is the choice to stop supporting HDDs for the minimum requirements – SSDs offer faster loading times, improved streaming, and better overall performance when compared to HDDs.

It's important to highlight that it doesn't mean the game will stop working on the previous minimum requirements. However, following the next update to the base game, active support for them will be discontinued, and testing the game on those setups stopped.

The presented FPS data is based on internal testing. Performance may vary depending on your particular PC hardware and software configuration, any changes made to individual graphics settings or resolution output.

You can check out the updated system requirements below:

See you in Night City!
The recommended CPU requirements are so ridiculous that the Ryzen CPU in question doesn't even exist. Now, if they meant R7 7800X3D, then LOL.

JeniSkunk: Price to capacity is why I went with the HDD in my November 2022 build.
Back when I did the build, a cinema ticket was still less than half the price of a 256Gb SSD here in Australia. A 256Gb SSD is simply far too small to be a viable capacity drive for anything other than OS boot.
Looking at prices now, the 256Gb SSD prices haven't changed any.
So Themken's claim on SSD prices is full of utter garbage.
Maybe it depends on where you live. Right now I can get 2TB SSD for 2.5x more than same capacity magnetic disk. I don't watch disk price trends that closely anymore, but spinning rust prices have definitely gone down here - I remember them being roughly CZK 1000 for 1TB, now I can get 2TB for 1100-1500. Everything together, SSD right now is about 2x more expensive than magnetic disk from about 2 years back. That was good enough for me to buy M.2 2TB.

Only thing missing is for galaxy to allow me to move active games to SSD and inactive games back to magnetic. Steam client has it, no idea about epic. Seems like basic stuff to support.

JeniSkunk: The minimum system requirements for this DLC will be unplayable on my November 2022 built system.
CPU in build - Core i5-10400
Min CPU for the DLC - Core i7-6400
Games drive in build - 4Tb HDD
DLC required drive - SSD
So to play the DLC I'd have to do another new system build. No way I can afford that till maybe 2025 at the earliest.
Your CPU meets the minimum requirements by the way.

Core i7 6700 is a 4 core 8 thread with Turbo 4GHz
Core i5 10400 is a 6 core 12 thread with turbo 4.3GHz. Base frequency is slightly lower, but it makes up for it with more cores and faster officially supported ram.

Comet Lake (the codename for the this 10th generation processor) is effectively a rebadged 6th gen CPU with more cores, so clock for clock the architectures are comparable.

It isn't even consistent with the system requirements on the store page.

Intel Core i7-12700 or AMD Ryzen 37 7800X
It still doesn't exist. Besides, a AMD Ryzen 37 must be much more powerful than a lowly Ryzen 9

Prices vary from country to country. So do tax rates.

So a ~250GB SSD is maybe a bit small but it can fit the game and an OS. ½TB SSDs seem to indeed have gone up a bit in price and will cost you a bit more than a cinema ticket in Helsinki Finland.

Larger SSDs have become much more affordable lately but they certainly cost more even if they give you more GB/£€$.

First picture for a Friday night at the near monopoly cinema chain. Tax included in price.

Second picture from a reputable shop that includes all taxes and P&P (postage & packaging). I tried picking brands I have heard of but there were cheaper ones. I admit €26,90 (480GB model) is more than €22.40 but €18.90 (240GB model) certainly is less. Sorry Finnish only.

A 1--2TB SSD is a better buy if you can afford it. Again, the game should still work on a good hard drive.

Quite hefty. My local cinema in Germany doesn't even cost half the price. Tax included.

Guess why I called the picture 'Outrageous'! I do not go even once a year.
I do not meet the min, but I will someday, and I'll likely try the expansion at that point. I am not going to be angry about it. A lot of fun things are out of my price range; I live in America.

*Edit: I do appreciate CDPR being upfront about the expectations so that I know to wait. You can find those expectations to be unreasonable to you, but honesty is good.

The perfect CPU for the year 2077.

I must admit, that my local cinema chain, which is only in a rural area, is one of the cheapest in Germany. But I don't even pay these prices, because I take the annual season-ticket and spend the saved money on consumption. A win-win situation for both sides. Maybe not for Disney and the other suckers, since their film rental terms are the reason, why single tickets are so expensive.

Reaper9988: Looks nice but preordering....nah sorry. There's probably gonna be some ironing out needed again after release ;)
I bet it will be released in stellar technical condition (they will want to regain their reputation). But to keep the fire of hate burning, they removed normal HDD support. These guys certainly know how not to do good PR. :) Personally, I'll put it on my wishlist not to forget about it, but will probably buy it in 3+ years in a discounted Game of the Millenium or Something edition.

If they wanted to regain their reputation they'd not increase the system requirements, they'd fix the console versions which they abandoned (PS4 and XBox One) or remove the DRM'd My Rewards content among oh so many other things. In my book they're still scummy.

And I do believe that the DLC will drop in a horrendous state, which would be on brand if we're being honest.

I can imagine that people will not happy with the performance and they will say "well, we upped the requirements. Aren't you rich? Why don't you simply buy a new GPU and SDD ... it's not our fault that the game does not perform correctly."

I mean, let's forget for a moment that the game performed all right before even on mid range PCs and now it should not anymore for ... feature reasons. Makes me wonder if they ever heard of OPTIONAL features. But "optional" is a word CDPR has trouble to understand anyway ... *cough* Galaxy .... rewards ....

They've long needed to make it clear for their games that Galaxy and online DRM are requirements for the 100% FULL games. So no one misses it, here're the wishlist entries:
