Is it fair to think GOG is gonna focus on Galaxy 2.0 work for the next few months, and encourage (not force) its use when Cyberpunk2077 releases? It seems like a "big break" kinda moment, perhaps a chance grab a little more marketshare if many more people learn about and like Galaxy 2 (and GOG, similar to Witcher 3 physical keys being GOG keys). I wonder if we'll see a slowdown in releases for the next few months if the focus is on Galaxy 2.

(I'd prefer this didn't turn into a "Galaxy hate" thread but that's probably inevitable. :p)

Promoting Galaxy 2 to new (Cyberpunk 2077) customers makes perfect sense, but what would they (GOG) have to gain by intentionally slowing down releases in the meantime? Afterall, I don't think that the same staff who codes the Galaxy 2.0 client are the same people who are working on Cyberpunk, nor are they the people who negotiate deals to add new/old games to GOGs library.

I was thinking maybe there was some overlap between what some employees did for both games and Galaxy (testing and coding), but I suppose that's unlikely.
We will see some slow down, but that’s more because of the big sale and early year. It will pickup again. I expect them to be in full swing “encouraging” everyone to use galaxy. The usual big banners, hiding the offline installers, not patching the offline installers till later, and including galaxy components in the offline installers. It’s just part and parcel now. Other than some UI elements, it’s hard to see how there is any difference now. I expect cyberpunk to have a single player offline campaign, but it mostly be built for online, that seems to be the latest (last year or so) technique. There are at least a couple of games that are (or were) on here like that, the sword fighting game - forget its name - which is mostly an online only, gwent is obviously online only, goblins inc wa. That’s just the way the whole industry is moving. Thankfully gog are moving far slower towards that end.

They already stated that they will begin development of multiplayer after the release (and that they are considering ways to make money off it). Cyberpunk is a pure single player game for the time being.
low rated

Just as long as they let people with slower DL speeds download the game earlier then others I'll never play multiplayer because it's shit.

I'm actually all in favour of GOG pushing Galaxy 2.0 (as an optional thing), because anything that raises GOG's market share reduces Steam's (even if by only a tiny bit). Anything that reduces Steam's stranglehold is a good thing, even the Epic Games Store. I'll never buy anything there, but the fact that some people will takes market share away from Valve.

nightcraw1er.488: hiding the offline installers
How will they hide the installers?

Well, they are already hidden under an expandable link on the download page. Probably move them to a small icon, under another drop down perhaps, maybe call it old files-loose not up to date files-sure you don’t want to use galaxy-offline installers (containing galaxy components). Maybe I am just giving them ideas there though.
I waited for this release very long time
Please consider one thing: They already did this with The Witcher 3.
Physical editions had Galaxy bundled in, which installed automatically when running the setup from the disk.

I already found this very questionable behaviour. Additionally that screwed me over some time ago, since even though i had uninstalled the bundled Galaxy, the uninstaller left some services behind that then some two years later interfered with another game. That game did not start until i fully removed the superfluous Galaxy services.
