I got Croc for PC and I installed the music patch and unofficial patch (that games it widescreen and such) from here: https://mega.nz/#!WFg1hS4b!ggoYFQeWjMTapH3P8Ly7yndJYthJrh8Al7ghb-J7RfU but the game crashes whenever I select "change driver settings" in the launcher. (that option is how you change settings outside the game, including enabling high resolution modes like widescreen)

There isn't even any error message, the launcher just closes for no reason and doesn't open the settings menu. It only opened the menu properly once but I need to change some settings around now and the game won't let me open the menu. What is going wrong and how do I fix it?

Here's the guide I was following: https://www.play-old-pc-games.com/2013/01/31/croc-legend-of-the-gobbos/

Who knows. 🤷

If I had to guess, something invalid is now in a configuration file, and the easiest way to fix that would be to strip the invalid value.
Maybe try posting in the article comments? It seems to be recently active.

Also there seems to be someone with your problem, and he solved it: "i right-click the application/launcher and selected the compatability for windows 98"
It's OK, it was the DEP protection preventing it opening. I enabled Croc as an exception to it and it works now.

I installed and patched Croc a couple of months ago (also with those music patches etc.), but not sure if I recall doing that. I also had some problems at first, maybe it was that DEP thing then.

I don't recall if I used Direct3D or Glide (with nGlide emulator) for graphics. Probably the latter.

I think I otherwise got it working 100%... except that there is no music/audio during the intro. :( Did you manage to get that too? The intro plays, but it is completely silent IIRC.

Right now I don't have the game installed because I got a bigger HDD and wiped out my old Windows installation. I should try it again at some point.

All the cutscenes are buggered in my version, they have no sound and are largely cut down. I got the music patch to work OK but now I need a cutscene fix patch. I've not missing much with Croc 1 anyway as the cutscenes have no dialog, not even text boxes like Earthworm Jim 3D, Conker's Bad Fur Day and Mario 64.
