ssling: How does it compare to say Rayman 2 (I guess most renowned direct competitor)?
Well, there were 2 years difference between the releases of the games and you can see the diferences in the tech.
Croc was relased in the middle of times of playstion and the start of boom on 3d graphics which was impressive at that time while Rayman 2 was released at the end of playstation and start of playstation 2.

It is a very nice platform game which you can compare with the first Spyro and Crash and other platform games at that time.
I owned the original PS1 version mostly likely like all the rest of you. Very nice seeing yet another older game coming to a storefront near you like GOG.

We really need them all back.
good ol' game.
Looking forward to playing it for the first time.
The look and name always stood out to me.

Atreyu666: I like the way they did it with the Tomb Raider games where you can switch from original to remastered with just a button, anytime you want. Even in the menus it works :)
When done well, yes. Although the "classic" mode in most remasters will usually not be 100% exactly the same as the original. The degree of this varies from remaster to remaster, but it will generally never be exactly the same in every single way, shape and form.

I personally will keep playing the Tomb Raider 1 Gold I have with the ATI GLRage patch for better resolution:

But the TR Remasters specifically are great for those who never owned/played the originals.

tfishell: I hope it being exclusive pays off, though I imagine this won't be eternally exclusive.

No, GOG just announced it was coming here.

Reznov64: Oh, weird. thought it was already available for sale when I saw it being advertised on the homepage back in December(?).
Finally! GOG had me on the edge of my seat for months only for no news until now. This is my most wanted retro 3D platformer, as I did play the demo on CD back then.

It's much, much easier than Rayman 2, I would say that the target audience was slightly younger/casual in Croc's case.

I'll have to disagree there. Some platforming segments in Croc can be tough, especially due to the controls. And it has the old school - 1 hit makes you drop all collectibles, another hit while at 0 kills you, whereas Rayman 2 has the usual and quite generous healthbar.
This is a great news. I was waiting for this gem to return back to us in a compatible shape.
