rtcvb32: Seeing a lot of good suggestions.
---
Sacred 2 offers a couch co-op option. (Or at least the Console version did)

Ring Runner - Flight of the sages has a coop option, although that's either multiplayer, or playing via a 2-player ship.
Pretty sure the PC version dose not have it. But I will test it out later today.

Lone_Scout: Fight'N'Rage
Can't recomend this game enough, it's a blast to play both single and co-op and also include some friendly bots to help (or not) on any configuration up to 3 players. Dificulty it's just right on any setting and plenty of content with different paths, endings, modes and characters. Speaking of wich, you only have access to 3 characters but with a little trick can unlock pretty much any character in the game.

HunchBluntley: X-Morph: Defense Complete Edition
Been playing it for a while and is not only a surprisingly very good game, it works quite well on co-op for the style of game. It's a tower defence game but you also control a alien fighter plane (yeah, player is the bad guy here) on a top-down style shooter.
Can be played on a veriety of styles, like careful build towers and spend the action time colecting resources to build more and better towers or using the figther like a robbed monkey and destroy those filthy humans.
I would call it a Real Time Strategy game really.

foxgog: Have you tried "Brothers: A Tale of two Sons"?

It is a more story- and a bit puzzle-focussed game originally intended to be played on a twin-stick controller (by just one player) but you can configure the inputs in a way that each one of you controls one of the two brothers!
And it is a kind of touching, emotionally story in a fairy tale like world, told without words. Maybe your other half might like it.
Played the game on the co-op way you described, was fun but not everyone cup of tea, since it's short and pretty straight foward, is like playing a interactive movie (quite a enjoyable one).
I cannot tell you the number of times I've wanted a list like these. I'm looking forward to sorting through all the suggestions.
Overcooked games are good fun. Very make-or-break for relationships though. :P

Nice thread with lots of good titles already suggested. I'll add onto the pile if you'd like? :D

Hyper Light Drifter (GOG is yet to update the store page to reflect this)
Enter the Gungeon
River City Girls
Slipstream
Swords of Ditto
Children of Morta
Wildermyth (if you like reading, and taking turns)
Monster Prom and its sequels (again: if you like reading, and taking turns)

Already recommended, but I'm also vouching for:
Kingdom: Two Crowns
Crawl
LEGO Star Wars and Harry Potter
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime
Worms games
Metal Slug games
Fight'N'Rage

Also: have you ever tried taking turns playing single player games?
We often do it and enjoy it a lot. Lots of opportunities for cheering each other on when it's the other person's go, and sympathising during failures. And if it's everyone's first time with the game, can give you something new to talk/speculate about.
It's a different way to bond than playing co-op or versus multiplayer. And also very different from experiencing single player games on your own.

Obviously not going to be to everyone's tastes though... Some people compulsively backseat game, for example. :P
But that can be an opportunity for relationship building too - learning how to tell someone to shush while you figure it out, ahaha!

I think any LEGO games here can basically fall into that category. But I'm only referring to the LEGO games that are derived from IPs like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc.
