LaPtiteBete: Great ! What dull game is it ?... (sorry if you mentioned it earlier, I didn't read all the posts I missed... !) :-/
I recently finished a game called Mind: Path to Thalamus and now I am playing Montague's Mount. While Montague's Mount is a little better (storyline wise), both are quite dull and short (at least I think both are short, I have not finished Montague's Mount yet, but I get the feeling it will be short). I could not really recommend them, unless you enjoy those kind of games and you can pick them up for very cheap, like I did (I got them from a DRM Free bundle).
BTW in Escapists you can name all of the prisoners and guards so I've started using you folks as cons and Blues as guards. Makes it a little easier to remember who I'm doing what with, who owes me, and who is trying to kill me.

CarrionCrow: Not sure on why some independent games don't get major discounts on GOG.

Maybe they're trying to make some kind of revenue through here since they can't be getting very much putting their stuff out in 10-for-a-dollar bundles.
I can understand that, but if only they would be more competitive, they might sell more. Also, it annoys me to see publishers put a game on GOG for sale for 50% off, or less, but then at the same time or just after, have it part of a bundle where they could end up with next to nothing. It makes no sense to me and is just really a big insult to GOG users. The games on the bundles are Steam with a DRM Free version, so they are selling two copies for a fraction of the price. It would be nice to give GOG a decent sale discount, they would still be getting more than they would on a bundle.

For example, you could sell it for $0.99 on GOG and you still would get more than in the bundle, as that is split so many different ways. But instead they give GOG users a price like $3.49 (just random prices), while on Humble you can get that game and more for $1. It doesn't seem like a good business plan to me, but then I have never seen what sense bundles make for the developers or publishers. Maybe for really old games or little games that don't sell, but not for more popular games.

So who is trying to kill you? ;-)

Wow... Montague's Mount seems creepy... I couldn't play it anyway !! :)
Mind reminds me of Myst... ?

It changes from game to game and I keep starting over. I'm learning to avoid being wanted because that is no way to plan an escape. The minimalist approach is always best IMO. :D

Montague's Mount does have a creepy look, but so far it's nothing scary, just an abandoned island, but I did just see a dead body, but nothing graphical or anything.

Mind is a bit like Myst, but it's so boring, for me at least. You just walk around finding spheres, then you move the spheres to the right spots to open the way forward, which is just more walking and more spheres. If you mess something up, you might have to do a lot of backtracking. Montague's Mount has an okay story, with parts scattered around the island, but Mind had just a few sentences here and there and a longer bit at the end. Overall, Mind took me about 4 hours, and you could probably fit the story parts into 10 minutes.

Both games have good concepts, but they are just poorly implemented and dull. They are both nice to look at visually though, especially Mind.

Thanks for your reviews anyway :-) it's always good to know...
I don't play much at the moment...
I played and finished "the last door" within a few days... It's quite short... not bad ! but the story is a bit weird (and a bit complicated for a french owl, with both supernatural and psychological stuff)... you must love huge pixels, too... and it's moreover too easy. It doesn't need you rack your brains a lot... and... there's no end... kind of "to be continued in chapter 2"... >__< ... (the sequel isn't released yet, if I am not mistaken)...

I have not been playing much, but I am trying to get some of my backlog played. This last week has been the first time in months I have been able to just relax and play some games, which is nice, even if they are boring games. :-)

I liked The Last Door, and I hope when the second batch are done we will get them here on GOG. I felt the pixel graphics were a bit too pixel for my liking, but the story was very interesting, it reminded me a lot of Edger Allen Poe's works. You are right about it being too easy, but part of this is probably due to the pixel style - you can't do complicated puzzles with such graphics. I think it is a bit over-priced considering it's free to play online, and considering it's only short. But it was a nice game, especially as you got closer to the end.

Outlast is my Halloween game for this year. I am going to put some headphones on, sit in a dark room, and see how scary the game is. :-)
