ddickinson: I have played a little of 3 and it is fun, but I found it a little too easy. The AI was kind of bad, even on the hardest level, which seemed to effect the damage you take more than the AI. It is fun, and I like the guns and things, but I guess I can see it getting repetitive, plus the good guys are all sooooo annoying. The bad guys are cool, it is a shame we can't play as them. And the whole plot of a rich kid from California beating all these people and becoming the ultimate warrior is quite far fetched. At least in the first 2 you are a solder I beehive?
Also the animals are wimps. They should do a lot more damage than they do, I mean, getting attacked by a crocodile should be fatal or near to it, but all you do is lose a tiny bit of health.
In the first game, I think the character is ex-military(?) ... but in the present, he seems like more of a surfer/frat boy/trying-to-hard-to-be-cool type of character. In the second game, you can choose between a handful of different characters from different places with different backgrounds - though I don't think which one you choose has any effect on anything.
And the AI sucked in those games too :-p But mostly because they were unfair.

superstande: Another telegram from the weird Laos!

Lovely questions Endre!

The computer I'm using actually crashed when I tried to answer a call from my brother through facebook...
A complete reset :)

Otherwise it's been mostly very relaxing. I love the hot. And that it gets dark after seven p.m. ... and the cold beer is awesome. I sweat most of it off, or something... Haven't really gotten drunk in this country, although this cheap quality stuff has been on my table perhaps too much. Walked by the river and other places. It's mindblowing, even though the government could do with some better laws. Of course as a tourist it's really not much to do with me... Just a side note sort of thing... :)
*opens the telegram... then wonders who the hell sends telegrams anymore? o_O*

It sounds like you are really enjoying your holiday, that is great to hear. Fingers crossed it will stay like that for you all.

But AI and things are supposed to be improved with new games, not just the graphics. Oh wait, this is modern game developers, so all they care about it shiny graphics, even if they are broken. :-)

haha... it seemed appropriate somehow :)

No worries. I've eaten so much good food I'll be happy for months already, and I'm only getting started :P

Be careful, if you eat too much food they won't be able to get you into the plane. You will have to come back via the steamboat (to match the telegram era setting). :-)

Good morning, Mr Crow!

I hope you had a nice night's sleep.

I am doing good, thank you. How are you on this lovely Tuesday?

Think I got a couple hours of chair sleep in total. I feel downright perky now. ;)

Still, can't complain here. It's a quiet morning, and I continue to be amused by seeing Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, a 3 meg game, next to Shadow of Mordor, a 42 gig game, on my desktop.

Good morning Crow!

Hope you're beating the heat, and staying awake during the more important parts
of the day, and/or game! :)

And...

Greetings to everyone, hoping it's a good day and week for you all.

All is well here for me, thankfully.

<big waves and silly hugs for everyone>

I thought we agreed on no more chair sleep? *shakes head*

It is sometimes impressive seeing how small the old games are considering how much they packed into them. I guess because they had to make them small, while today they don't need to care. A bit like how in the old days the games had to work, while these days that is not really needed always.

How is the Shadow of Mordor game? I have heard some mixed things about it.

You know how it goes. There's no beating it, just dealing with it.

-laughs- If I fall asleep during a game, that's a solid indicator of it not being very good. (Unless I've been up for three days or so. Then all bets are off.)

Glad to hear you're doing all right, not keeling over from miserable heat stroke.
*"drops in" with a perfect flop*

Hello everybody!

I hope you are all doing fine? I'm doing fairly well myself here. The laptop is auto-grinding a game with something heavy put on top of the mousebutton and I just finished a little string piece on the fixed pc...

...
A lot of the size of games now has to do with the textures and the size of those image files...

The more visual the bigger the size of the game.

Those old games used to pack in 30 to 100 hours of gameplay, while today's large download games
might only be 6 hours, with very few pushing the 30 hour gameplay. :/

Aye! The heat is on and it's a baking sweaty mess in the apartment. heh!

You know how we rely on your game reviews... if one puts you to sleep out of boredom
I can imagine the choice words you would find to say about it. :)

I know, but some of the older games still look lovely. And there are even a few newer games with nice graphics that are also tiny in size. I think often the problem is that developers no longer need to optimise things, well, they should perhaps, but they know gamers will put up with anything so why should the care about optimising their games anymore.

Hello and welcome. It's been awhile since I've seen you posting in the thread. :)

A game grind with a heavy weight on the mouse? It must not be a combat oriented game... heh!

Still composing too? Glad to hear that.

<tips tinfoil top hat in your direction>

Good morning Agent. :)

The game looks interesting with the real time to turn based combat and
all the intricate *make your own place in the world* extensive crafting.
Definitely one to watch.
