CarrionCrow: I hope so too. You can't recover as quickly if you don't get proper rest at least some of the time.

Oh no...by all means, please continue telling me about your lovely weather as I slowly melt into a gigantic puddle of sweat that utilizes a tendril of salty water to type.
I won't do anything like compare that to someone with a plate full of food mentioning how good it is to a starving person, or telling someone with no legs how great it is to walk around...;P

The sale format is fine, if slow. Everything but Insomnia-pace, have to click it before someone else does, fuck you if you do things like get up, or go to the bathroom, or get a drink, is slow to me.

Hmm. Hadn't noticed that. I'm not really going for in-dev games, so I didn't see the difference.
The coughing is getting better for the most part, but it will take a few more weeks of antibiotics and things before it should be mostly gone. I am pretty sure I will be able to get at least some sleep tonight as I am quite tired, providing my lungs settle down.

Well why didn't you say so. Well, the day was nice and sunny, but with a lovely breeze, warm, but not too warm. Maybe mid 20Cs at most. Now, who do I talk to about this plate of food and these lovely legs of mine. :-)

I like the XP element. I know it is just silly fun, but at least it shows a little effort has gone into it. I like that GOG used it to highlight the 2 step verification page and other things. The sale seems nice, although I do think they could maybe offer more free games for people who have already got all three. But I guess that is hard to do as publishers won't get much of a profit from it.

I only noticed it as I saw on the front page when you hover over a game it shows the XP you will get. I have no real interest in incomplete games, the same with pre-orders. I prefer to get a game that is finished and that has a little feedback from customers so that I know the game is not a complete letdown.

I hope they do. Last thing you need is to end up like me, crashing out in a chair or at a desk.

That is just mean. Mean, I tell you! ;)

Yes, it has served a purpose beyond simply getting games.
I don't think GOG can really do a bunch of free games without spiking the requirements to obtain them to make up for it. At that point, a lot of people would complain that they're expected to pay too much.

I've done pre-orders a couple times, and gotten burned in the process. No track record with in-dev games, but they don't appeal since the only one I want is an RPG. No point in playing that early since the experience will be damaged by doing so.

Thank you, but no risk of that. :-)

Come now, you know I would send some of this weather your way if I could. But not the food, it would go off by the time it got to you. Nor my legs, I like them where they are. :-)

That is a good point. i guess any free game is nice, and for Galaxy users there is a completely free game as well.

I get the business side of pre-orders, it gets them money early, but I don't get why customers do it. It was different in the old days when games were physical things and there was limited stock, but these are digital, so you lose nothing really by waiting, but you risk things by giving money to a promise of a game. Early Access type stuff has never appealed to me. Maybe if there was some guarantee in place that the game would actually be finished (which there can't be, as the developers would already have taken the money), but as it is there are too many developers who take the money and leave, or just deliver a broken, incomplete, or buggy game. It is like Kickstarter games, once they have your money they lose incentive to make a good game as they already have your money. Games made without crowdsourcing need to be good for them to sell or they fail.

Oh, I know you would. =)
And yes, you're right in figuring that I wouldn't really want either spoiled food or severed legs.

I'm just used to it. The more crap you buy, the worse your odds get for discounts or freebies.
But at the same time, you can find good people and give the stuff to them instead.

It's a tactic to improve the numbers by offering some incentive to balance out the risk of buying something sight unseen.

I like the idea of Early Access and In-Dev in terms of customer interaction with companies, being able to talk with them about things, help support them while they work, but the people who've taken advantage of it are giving the entire process a bad name.
I've only done crowdsourcing once, and it's for a company with a very good track record. Wouldn't feel at all comfortable giving someone who's unproven some money and taking it on faith that they'll finish the job.
Good evening *big hugs and waves* :)

Didn't you go to bed like... only 4 hours ago?

Nope....would be pretty unusual to go to bed that early :)

Yes, there are definitely some lovely and generous people in here finding people to gift games to. ;-)

I know, and despite some people being angry about it being Galaxy only I can see why they do it, on the one had they want to stress test Galaxy, on the other hand they want as many people as possible to be on Galaxy. That would make it easier for them once it becomes compulsory. :-)

I do like those aspects of Early Access, allowing the customers to help is a good idea, but it is open to so much abuse due to lazy and inept developers. Maybe if more curation was done, making companies prove they are far enough in development and committed to the project perhaps.

I can also see why people do crowdsourcing (there are definitely some very interesting projects on there). I have nothing against that or Early Access in theory, but as I am sure you know there is a lot of abuse. I can understand backing a company with a good reputation, or for a product that is not just an idea (as in nearly finished, or easy to produce, not just an idea for a product or a game that might never happen), but generally the idea of giving money to someone I don't know with nothing more than an empty promise in return is not really something I want to do. I also don't like how many treat the backers. They are technically investors, they deserve to be treated as such, but it seems that many developers, The Banner Saga ones for example, just like to crap on their backers, the very people who made their product possible.

And even more accurate for you given you are an hour ahead. :-)

I am doing okay, hoping to get some sleep soon, other than that I have been better, but nothing I need to complain about. Have you had a nice day and a nice sale so far?

My coughing has finally settled down a little, maybe the medication is kicking in finally, so I will be saying goodnight and try to get some sleep while I can in case it gets worse again.

Take care, lovely people of the thread. Have a lovely rest of the day!

*hugs and waves*

P.S. Sorry for leaving mid-conversation Crow. I will respond to any reply in the morning.

Thank you. I hope you will be able to get some sleep soon.

That sounds like a good idea, it is nice that the discounts last until the end of the sale. Hopefully you will fine a few games that catch your eye.

Have a nice evening/morning, ELT. Take care. *big hug*
Just another quick hello! We're about to watch a bit of Fargo and then have a little dinner, then I'll most likely be back around. I hope you're all having a lovely day!

*big hugs all around*
