ddickinson: Well life is too short to let these things bother me, so I try to carry on being myself and not let the bad parts of life get me down. It doesn't always work, but for the most part it's okay.

I'm glad you are having a restful weekend. Do you have anything nice planned for the weekend?
I think I've said this before, but that's really an excellent outlook. It can be easy to forget all the really great things in our lives sometimes, and it helps to focus on them.

I'll probably go to the cinema on Sunday with my younger sister, and I'll be meeting her boyfriend as well, so I'm curious to see what he's like. :P Other than that, I don't have much planned, except for catching up on some reading I have to do.

FearfulSymmetry: Gee, I'm really sorry to hear that. This world can be such a fucked up place sometimes. And like our owl has said, you always seem like such a good and cheerful person, so I'm extra sad to hear this.

Don't feel bad about taking away the fun! I'm sure it'll return within the blink of an eye. As for myself, I'm very glad it's finally weekend and I can catch up on some much needed sleep. And I just watched The Book of Life and it was totally amazing.

gunsynd: My sympathies,I find it hard to express true feelings in a post.It seems so unnatural :-)
avatar
ddickinson: That's okay, thank you.

How about you give us one of those Australian jokes to help change the mood? :-)
"How do you know when a plane load of Poms has landed.....?"

"The engine stops but the whining noise goes on....."
avatar
ddickinson: Thank you. I kinda wish I never mentioned it now, I really did not want to stop of the silly talk and fun.
No worry... back to the silly talk and fun in a few seconds... just the time to... process the sad information... ;-/

ddickinson: I'm sure your boyfriend would be glad you went clothes shopping for an outfit like that. :-)
Too bad I can't dance the "french cancan" ^^ ... (nor any other dance, in fact... lol... finally I might have more chance of success with the alien outfit !!) :-p

i have a lot to be grateful for in my life, so I tend to concentrate on that. I try to enjoy things for what they are and not to get too caught up in the small stuff.

The cinema sounds nice. I have not been in years, lots and lots of years. I am not a big movie watcher, so I end up doing other things. I hope your meeting with your sister's boyfriend goes okay. Are you going to play the protective older sister and give him a hard time? :-)

Typical. I ask for an Australian joke and it ends up been a racist joke. :-)

I think that once he sees you in that outfit, he won't care about a dance. :-)

You haven't spoiled anything !! :-)
Sometimes it's good to get sh*tty things out of your chest...
and it's good to know you'll always find friendly ears around here for that ... so no problem at all

I'm a big fan of movies. I have a membership card for a chain of cinemas here in the Netherlands, so I can go as often as I want. Usually I go at least once a week. I don't much like partying, so this is my way of 'going out'. :) And nah, I'm pretty relaxed. Besides, don't want to scare the poor boy too much. :P

But scaring him is all the fun. You are supposed to make him feel so scared and then you you let him know afterwards that you were only joking. :-)

I know. I don't find it racist at all, it's just part of the banter that England and Australia has had for a long time. But it was a funny joke.

Haha, but I tend to feel bad about that sort of thing. :P Especially since he hasn't been in the Netherlands for very long and he doesn't speak Dutch that well yet, so the friendliness of it might be lost on him. :P Still, I suppose I can have a little fun ...

What about you? Are you doing anything for the weekend?

Well I'm certainly not a racist.I treat people as they treat me,if they want a war or arguement
they will get one.If they treat me with respect they will get the same back,it's the way I was brought up.....
Any way feel free to drop subject:-)

I would be too nice to scare him too much, but I would probably have a little fun :-). Where is he from, if you don't mind me asking?

I am helping my dad prepare a surprise meal for my mum for Valentines, then I am going home to have a nice romantic meal at home with my partner. Then on Sunday I will just spend the day relaxing with my partner and probably thing of something to do on the day.

Don't worry, I never thought you were, I was just poking fun at how politically correct the world is these day.

Do you have anything planned for the weekend? How does a futuristic kangaroo spend his free time? :-)

I think he's originally from Turkey, but he spent quite a while in France before coming here to study. That's what I've heard so far, at least. :)

That sounds lovely, I hope you have a great time! And it's so sweet that you're all preparing a meal for your mother. :)
Imma back! Holiday for me and have to hug both DD senpai and FearfulSymmetry senpai.
You two prepare for my hugs!

My mother has only just gotten out of hospital, and my dad missed her so much and wanted to do something special for her. But he is not the greatest cook, and he will need help distracting my mum so she won't walk in and ruin the surprise. I was originally going to a nice restaurant, but I gladly cancelled it to help.

Is football big in Australia? I think you are lucky to have rugby more popular than football. I have never really liked football, just a bunch of overpaid prima donnas. They fall to the floor and cry over the slightest knock, very manly indeed. While a rugby player gets his face broke and he continues to play.
