Stilton: You should have been at Bletchley Park during WW2 - the war would have been over in ten minutes.... :-)
I have been there, a very interesting place. I wrote a piece on Turning and his many contributions to the war and computer science. Sad really how he was treated later in life, but I guess that is how things were in those days. But still, not a way to treat someone who along with his team deserved to be classed as war heroes.

The second world war was very similar to the first. German lost quite early on when you think about it, the rest was just them not being willing to accept the fact. Which I guess could be seen a compliment to them. Internal politics alone would have seen the Nazis fail eventually. Hitler should have perhaps done as Stalin did in regards to the officers, then he might have had a more loyal backing.

AgentBirdnest: Thanks for the easy tip. I'll keep that in mind. I tend to play on easy often anyway :-p

What would you call a "good" or "high level" FPS?
I am not really sure. I like a nice story in my FPS games, so a good game would need that, a good plot and good gameplay. I just tend to not say good game for those I mentioned as I know people did not like them. Half-Life was good, as were the early COD games, the WW2 ones. There are probably a few others but my mind is a little blank on FPS games I have played at the moment. I will have a think and let you know.

Not quite the same as renovations in the same building, but construction on a new house adjacent to mine just started +__+
Uh yeah, that is also annoying. Had that some years ago, it made me quite happy to go to university every day just to get away :D

Well my head already hurt this morning and this is not really helping ;-) Two more hours and I can go home :D
*big return hug*

Stilton: For some reason I'm having a bit of a manic crazy hyper demented psychotic loopy lunatic day, which is odd because my IBS is killing me and and I've got about a billion things spinning through my head....

Okay, it's passing now...deep breath....stroke the cat...think of little bunnies.... Ahh, that's better :-)

Stilton: Hello, sweetheart x ;-) I gather you're feeling better today - good news! Dig your heels in and outlast the bugger, its often the only way. There's also the 'good friends and peanut butter' method, which it pretty useful. :-)

*return keep having a good day hug*
avatar
AgentBirdnest: Dig into my peanut butter and try to outlast my friends... got it! ;-)
Mmmm, peanut butter might just be a superfood. If eating it doesn't help I can try rubbing it on my belly... Sorry about any mental imagery which might have just popped up... :\

That's not so long, really. Pick up some Keks on the way home and relax with a hot drink. Better still, go and get some now and stick them in your ears!

Thats Viking logic - it doesn't always count for much.... :-)

I'd agree with those ones. I'd add Allied Assault, the Half-Life sequels, FEAR, and of course, my NOLF :-)
I kinda want to say Deus Ex and System Shock 2, but those are kinda RPG/FPS hybrids, so I won't count them. But I think STALKER counts, so I'll include that.

Ah, Allied Assault. I agree, although they were a bit too arrogant American (no offence) for me compared to COD, which we have mentioned before. It was the usual US single handed winning the war, rather than it being a global was like it actually was. But over all a good game with some great scenes. I actually think my favourite was the expansion in North Africa, as you rarely get that setting, plus it was something different from the usual European settings. FEAR was another good FPS, I forgot about that. Even the expansions were fun, although the story was not as good in those. I have not yet played any of the others yet, but all are highly regarded.
There is one AAA game...oh wow...

Edit: actually it's not day one xD

I get to go to work for the day tomorrow, which should be great fun. I am still stuck shadowing someone, but I might get to do some paperwork and things. It will just be nice to be at work more often. If all goes well I am hoping to go at least once a week, but hopefully a few times a week soon after that. Then from there I can start slowly getting back into work, just as long as I am up to it. I don't want to push myself too early and end up back where I started. I have been there for way too long and I really want to be my old active self again.

Will you be getting the new release?

good afternoon, second breakfast or the fadings of your workday!

I learned many things today!

-my new headphones have a cable that lets me wander into the kitchen, get coffee or cook!

-there's a built-in warm oven in Domino's new delivery car! that would be a cool car :)

ddickinson: Will you be getting the new release?
Not sure....for several reasons. First of all Zombies are not my favourite setting and second this time not only my gpu is below the minium but also the cpu. But it's nice to have the chance to get it here because it's not available in Germany otherwise...

Good afternoon.

How are you today? I have some nice bluetooth headphones that let me wander around the house.

I am the same with modern zombie games, and also the specs are too high for me even if I was interested. Do you think it will be blocked here soon for Germans a well?

Thank you both. I am really looking forward to being at work more, and as long as my tests and scans come back okay and showing improvements I can slowly increase what I do at work and hopefully it won't be long until I am good as new.

*big thank you hugs*

Well i never really liked zombies that much in the first place - but that generally doesn't keep me from enjoying those kind of games now and again :)
I cannot be entirely certain about that but i doubt it because Techland never had any hard region-lock in their blacklisted games. Both the Dead Island games and Dying Light could be activated on steam by Germans.
