superstande: Wish I had some ideas for your giveaway - and I suck at that business anyhow :) ...
I was going to jump in the one you just did because it seemed like a fun idea so I wouldn't say you suck! There's a cooking show I like called "America's Test Kitchen" that taught me a great soup involving chorizo and lentils PLUS I learned a lentil trick. Most beans you DON'T want to add vinegar / acid early, because it toughens the skin and they won't cook. Because lentils are tiny, however you DO want to add it. The added time it takes to cook them keeps them firm and from going to mush! Neat! I get a kick out of that kind of "cooking chemistry."

I also had a funny one RE: drunk gaming. I like to have a few beers when I spend a long late night playing some games. I also like to homebrew, so I have a notebook where I write down my recipes. This thing has turned into almost a journal, where I'll write down my thoughts on my own beers, commercial beers I may have tried that I really enjoyed (or hated!) and usually a few thoughts on a game I'm playing if it's very good.

Consequently, I had barely scrawled notes on night a few years back, still recorded in one of said logs.I remember the notes, I flipped through the log looking for them and couldn't find them. But I'm pretty sure the game was Lord of the Rings Guardians. While the game eventually turned me off on XBox multiplayer, this one night was pretty good because I recall my notes being something like "So drunk! Can barely write! Great night playing (and here is where I'm pretty sure it was LOTR) ... great "Beer X" " and so on. Pretty funny ;) Guess I had "one" too many that night.
Woohoo! Both of my classes were super well-behaved today! I got them to work quietly for pretty much the entire lesson. :D Really feels like a victory! *happy dance*

Since the class was all about vocabulary having to do with doctors and being ill, I allowed them to play some Surgeon Simulator at the end of the class. Some volunteers took turns playing and the rest of the class watched them do it on the projector. It was pretty fun to see and the class really enjoyed doing it.

How is everyone else doing this Monday? :)

Wow, you are really becoming a pro-cook! :) ...that lentil-trick is cool.

Haha... An interesting style of gaming you've got/had there :)

I remember enjoying a few beers and playing the first Witcher, that was lots of fun. And Tales of Maj'Eyel once or twice.
But at least for me, in the end, if I kept drinking beer after beer, playing becomes just impossible... Or at least a bit out of control ;)

Have you read any books on the history of beer? Or are you more interested in the taste? ;)

I keep my plans open... nothing much... mostly trying to avoid stress and do a bit of buddhist sitting, and work and then see how it goes from there.

Hope the beast likes the peanut butter and kibble... and hope the latter isn't 'an iron hoisting bucket used in mines' and is in fact the other definition I get with google, pet food :P

Wish I had some ideas for your giveaway - and I suck at that business anyhow :) ... Songs should be alright... Anything that is common around the globe, I'm guessing...
He absolutely loved the peanut butter *and* the iron bucket. He's a heavy chewer, so mining supplies are just about his favorite chew toys. ;)
I considered myself a buddhist for most of my living years, but the past few years I think it's become more clear that I'm a bit too secular in my beliefs to really belong properly to any faith. However, meditation and a mostly-buddhist worldview have remained central to life for me. It's more the practice and the comfort of ritual these days, and the stress relief I get from keeping myself centered. :)
If you decide to give away more old jazz records, look me up! haha

FearfulSymmetry: How is everyone else doing this Monday? :)
Okay it IS Monday - with all the releases and Daylight Savings, I was starting to think I slept through and it was actually Tuesday ;) Good that the classes went well. I have a sister who teaches a few art classes with younger children so I have a bit of an idea of how important the "good days" are!

I actually have. Nothing too "in depth" or deeply historical (though I have read a book or two about more general agricultural history that included beer). A lot of the books I've read on brewing go into the history of the beverage. Though typically more recent history - think Western European beer history as opposed to more general "fermented alcoholic beverages" history - so less ancient Egypt / Americas, more the typical barley / water / yeast drinks.

That sounds like good fun! Glad your classes went so well! I'm having a pretty great Monday myself. Getting lots of cleaning done, rearranging my office/computer room a good bit, good music on the stereo, and Sarge is being much less of a spazz than he was this morning. :)
7...
That's how many dogs bark at me every time I walk down the street to get the mail. Every time, without fail. 7. It's annoying :-p

Congrats \o/ *plays some happy music for you to keep dancing to*

Nice tactic, incorporating games into the lesson Don't think I ever had a teacher who did that for us... then again, I'm old, and grew up before video games existed ;-p
Good evening everyone *big tired hugs and waves*

Well now it's too late anyway xD
But *big thank you hug* i needed that. How are you doing?
I hate the fact that I get so stuck on needing to play games well. I can't play Balrum anymore, as I'm not sure how I want to spec my character with my very limited "learning points." Now I'm feeling like I can't progress in Legend of Heroes because there is a chest I can't get to without dying due to a fight with about 10 enemies. I know full well that I could come back later when I'm better prepared, but also know I'll forget, and the idea of just leaving it behind is driving me nuts. :)

Not feeling super-fantastic today. Nothing new. Same complaints as the last 2 weeks or so. It's getting tiring... really. But - I can squeeze out a few smiles, and am enjoying my Water™, so it's not all bad.
How about yourself, other than apparently being tired?

Hihi... I do the same thing. Actually, it is happening at this very moment as I play Torchlight XD ... Put more points into my main combat skill, or add to my armor skill?... meanwhile, I've spent so much time hesitating that the enemies went ahead and got more powerful :-p

*sees giveaway* Coolio! I love how relaxed your giveaways tend to be ;-) Happy birthdays to all when you get there :-)
