zeogold: That could only occur if you were 6 feet tall. If I remember correctly, that distance is your height.
avatar
superstande: *is utterly confused*
I believe when/where the fathom was made, the average height of a man was around 6 feet. Therefore, the armspan, which correlates more or less to height, was naturally 6 feet.
If you don't believe me about the height/armspan thing, try measuring yourself and see.

What a weird thing to say. =P

That's a good summary of me.

So a fathom is only 6 feet if all of us would shrink to about 6 feet? How much is it now?
It's just that wikipedia says it's 6 feet...
*still a bit confused*

....shrink? O_o
It's an official measurement that ORIGINATED as an armspan. It's no longer that, of course, but got set to a solid value of 6 feet. Sort of how a foot was 12 inches because supposedly the average foot was indeed 12 inches, but it just got set to that value permanently for use of measurement.

Ah alright. Makes sense now. Sorry I wasn't paying enough attention...
I can fathom this fathom now :P

...you still haven't explained what you mean by "shrink" to 6 feet. Are...are all of you Finnish people giants? o_O

ddickinson: Awwww. But it's no fun if you won't let us gift you now and then. But okay, I will resist the urge to gifting you the game.
Oh, I've gotten quite a few gifts, from a number of exceedingly generous people. =)

(Also, I got Undertale myself. As long as I space things out by a couple hours between transactions, the anti-fraud stays off my ass.)
A quick "hello" before I get to some cleaning and play with the pup. I hope you all have a lovely day today!

Haven't we all on here? :-)

But your card problem comes from you gifting people, so it would only be fair if you got a gift in return. But I won't force your hand, I am the last person to talk about not wanting gifts. :-)

And good day. How are you today?

Hey there. =)

Singing away in between downing some cup-meltingly strong coffee. I've had worse mornings.

Hope you and yours have a good day as well. =)

*goes to check out how much exactly is 6 feet in centimeters...*

oh.. yeah.. ah... nevermind then :) somehow I remembered it to be a lot less...
I blame Torchlight! ..all this roaming in dungeons, it has halved my IQ :P (so it's 2 now)

-laughs- True. =)

It's happened when gifting as well as grabbing stuff for myself. Blew it out more than once during sales.
Fortunately, Firek's fixed the problem every time.

From my GOGWiki page - "If you're looking at this, you might be thinking of giving me something as a gift. That is hugely appreciated. It is also entirely unnecessary. Scroll through my game list if you don't believe me. I now have more than 1,100 titles. I have games for literal YEARS. The thought alone is more than enough, and I thank you for it."

Not too bad here. It's coffee, music and getting morning crap out of my eyes at the moment.

How are you doing?

Yes, I remember you telling us about that before. I can understand the card safety, but I guess it can be annoying during a good sale.

Who on earth will read all that, even if we did, we like to gift, so we rarely take no for an answer. :-)

Glad to hear your day is not off to a bad start.

My day has been quite bad, but nothing to complain about. I had to cancel some more tests due to me not feeling too good after the tests yesterday, but nothing too bad, and I seem to be doing better than I was this morning, which is good.

In the end, I just need to wipe out my list. Then there'll be nothing left for someone to gift.
That goal feels much more attainable at the moment since a person who I won't mention as to keep the scum-sucking parasites from bothering them got me with an amazingly, moment of speechlessness-level generous blindside gift of Witcher 3 and its expansion pass.
Honestly figured that one would be the last item standing since my computer can't even run it yet.

Once I can see properly, things will be looking up in full. -laughs-

I'm happy to hear you're at least feeling a bit better. Not thrilled at what you're having to go through, though. At all.
