It's really a beautiful pic, anyway !! :-D

wow! Really nice :-)

And seems like my background picture is not easily found on the internet anymore. Guess I need to check out old backup cds at home...

Where is your avatar from, Moonshine, by the way ? :-)

When I first starting using a forum I build myself an avatar :D I took a picture from the internet in relation to my nickname. But that was boring, so I decided to add something. But at that time I could do not much with graphics so I was quite proud to manage the colour changing G which I put in front of the pic :D

toxicTom: That's an edited photo of you, right?

;-)
Yep, it's me in a blond wig wearing my work clothes. :-)

I loved the vibrant colours of the picture. I actually found the avatar way before I found the picture it was based on. She is also a lot less slutty than a lot of the Battle Sister pictures out there. It's mainly a boys hobby, and so as you can imagine, they do love their eye candy in a lot of the pictures. :-)

It took me a while just now to find the image mine was based on. I can't remember where I got the avatar, but I knew it was from this picture the moment I saw the lovely picture in all its HD glory. :-)

Yeah but it is quite hard to find something which is basically a moon over some lake :D There are too many pictures in regards to these keywords.
avatar
ddickinson: I know what you mean. It's got a lot worse these last few years. That's one of the few advantages of a Kindle, you can get a free sample of the book, and sometimes the many sales means you can get books relatively cheap. I prefer paper books a lot more than ebooks, but my partner decided I needed a kindle, as we are running out of room to store my lifetimes collection of books. :-)

The Kindle Paperweight is not too bad, I can read quite easily with it, but you can't beat the smell and feel or a real book. :-)
Nope. I've resisted buying a Kindle or similar because I don't think I could give up real paper books... My plan is just to have a house big enough to have a proper library. I've always wanted a proper library with floor to ceiling bookshelves and lovely comfy armchairs for reading in :)
But the free samples thing is definitely a bonus... I wonder if you can just get for the Android Kindle app.. I'm sure there is one.

I see your point. I guess your best bet is if you have it backed up at home.
Hi everybody! In case you don't recognise me, this is the (possibly blurred) avatar I used during October-November, and I won't try to change it until I'm certain the avatar issue has been fixed.

On an unrelated note, do you happen to know how I can completely deactivate the keyboard shortcuts on Word 2007?
I'm trying to write a paper and I'm taking notes on the pc but when I try to write stuff in English (mostly to remember the English version of a word I'm going to write in Greek on the paper-this paper uses quite some English bibliography), Word does random stuff that occasionally screw up whatever I was trying to do and cause Word to do a "Not Responding" session (I have quite a lot of those, as Word 2007 is too heavy/bloated for my pc, but I still haven't found a lightweight word processor good for writing university papers...). As an example, I was trying to write the word string (abbots) -the way I just wrote it- and after changing language from Greek (shift-alt) and writing the abb part, the abb part not only didn't register but also Word went to its start menu then said "Publishing TitleofPaper.xps" (I haven't named my paper thusly, but it's name doesn't matter in this context) and then went to not responding. A while later, it stopped this s*** and went back to normal. This might seem like a minor problem (especially as it mostly just changes to another tab-this occurence I just mentioned was just the one that drove me to the point of asking for help) but I have at least 10 occurences of this stuff per hour and it has started driving me mad! I tried to search the issue on Google but haven't managed to find anything so I thought you people might know something.

tl;dr What I said in the 2nd sentence aka: How can I completely deactivate the keyboard shortcuts on Word 2007?

I seriously hope so. Otherwise I think I need to include our community here. A giveaway and the person who finds my background pictures wins :D

I have a room that is basically just wall to wall books and a nice comfy chair. Then there are boxes in the attic full of books as well. I love to read. :-)

I think you can read the Kindle book samples through a Kindle app, or through a web browser. It's a nice way to get a feel for a book. It's not perfect, but it's better than just going on what the back of the book says.

Edit: The Kindle paperweight is not too bad. It's a touch screen kindle, but still and e-reader (not a tablet) and they have given the screen a nice paper like texture, not the smooth glass of a tablet. It also does a good job of looking like ink and paper. If you ever decide to get one, my advice would be to pay a bit extra and get the paperweight, not the basic version, as the basic version just feels cheap, while the paperweight actually feels nice and works perfectly.

And a Kindle is also great for reading on your way to work. At least now my real books are not getting damaged anymore by transporting them in my backpack all the time :D

I don't know about disabling keyboard shortcuts in Word, but I use LibreOffice these days. Not sure if it's any more light weight though...
There's nothing more annoying then random things happening when you're trying to do something.

That's true. And it's a great way to pick up cheap books that are too expensive in paper form, or that don't interest you enough to buy them in paper. I still prefer the real thing over a kindle, but I can see the advantages of it, including travelling and holiday reading.

This is another thing that puts me off, as I don't travel much and when I do I'm driving, so a Kindle would be useless. If I was commuting on public transport or travelling regularly I would probably go for one but as it is I just don't think I would use it.

I will try the samples thing though, I'm tired of buying subpar books and regretting not buying something better.
