Are there other people who can't use the downloader anymore at all ?... I can't... for many months now... I wrote to the support and never got any answer about it... I tried to desinstall/reinstall it 3 times and it still doesn't work at all... It doesn't open... I saw it lauches in the windows user control pannel, but nothing happens... it pisses me off... because direct download is bugging too !! it fails and stops at random % of download... GRRRRR >___<

I used the downloader earlier today to get an update without problems.
I'll make a test now to see if I face any issue.

Tell you what. I bet the problem is that it is crashing because of your username change. It probably can't connect and is then crashing. Because my guess is that the whole gog system is just one big mess and you know that there is already a problem with your wishlist and starting a conversation.

In regards of the direct download, perhaps you should try using a browser download manager, what browser are you using?

Doesn't work for me on Windows 10....and i had issues with the direct download as as well...that's why i'm using Galaxy for Downloads...

Mine still runs, but over time it's gotten cranky in terms of causing slowdown in other areas while it's running. Figuring I'll eventually switch over to Galaxy when it finally craps out for good.

Try this:
Uninstall the downloader and then delete the downloader configuration file.

Mine is located in:
C:\Users\Don\AppData\Local\GOG.com\

and is named:
GOG.com_Downloader.exe_Url_0lzitonqjch4gxvdftrofqz3vlcxje5b

You may have to search a bit to find this, hopefully you can.
Once this is done try re-installing/configuring the downloader.

This worked for me when I changed usernames.

No, it started bugging before I changed my user name... plus, it works 'sometimes' from home, but NEVER at work anymore...
Agent sent me a link reporting that Adobe AIR could create some problems... I desinstalled both, then reinstalled GOG downloader... but it still doesn't launch :-(

My office computer is on Windows 7... it doesn't work...
At home I have Windows 10 and it works very punctually...
I could use Galaxy, but it doesn't allow us to save the installing files as the 2 other options ?...

You can download just the installers with galaxy (but don't ask where that option is hidden, I remember reading about that).

Phew, after a fairly extensive selecting of possible titles/checking of various reviews/investigating via YouTube and sussing any gut instinct which might be swilling around, I'm still none the wiser. There are a handful I like the look of, but do I actually want them? This has got to be the first sale where I'm actually behaving like a grownup. How depressing!

How's everyone else doing? Being circumspect or buying in truckloads?
