ddickinson: I don't normally mind the rain. I would love to be back at work out in the wind and rain, I miss it so much at the moment. :-(

Do you think it will work with Galaxy?
Me neither - i live in a city famous (or infamous) for the amount of rain it gets...
Can imagine that...sorry that we talked about then....

Don't know...worth a try.

Don't be sorry, I don't mind you talking about it. I was just being a little silly. Although I do miss being at work, being stuck at home for all this time is driving me insane as I am so used to being active all the time.

ddickinson: I have never actually played a Fallout game, but I know many seem to love the games, although that is often split between those who like the older ones and those who like the newer ones. I have heard the new game is not quite up to scratch and quite a let down to many people, especially the fact it seems to have been dumbed down for console users (not saying console users are stupid).

Hopefully I can get the initial results on Friday, if not it will be the week after. I am also curious as if the results are not good enough I might have to cancel our christmas plans, which we mad way before I became ill.
They're definitely different games. The Bethesda titles are Elder Scrolls-type games with a Fallout skin on them.
The one way in which the Bethesda titles have the originals beat is in the sheer amount of exploration. Running around, finding places and quests, looting new stuff, that's interesting. The stories themselves tend to be poorly made shit, though.

Hopefully the plans don't have to be shifted. With your health being in a more serious condition, the shitty upside to that might be a rush on the test results.

Does story matter that much in an open world game? I can't say I have really played many (if any?), but people tend to always seem to prefer the side quests and things that make up the bulk of the game, with the main story often not mattering to them. I guess an open world kind of lets them make their own story up.

Thank you. Hopefully things will come back okay, I will settle for even a no improvement since last time. I am a little worried that the episode I had over the weekend will have a bad effect on things, but I will just have to wait and see.

Okay. That's understandable. I guess i would feel similar if i were in your situation.

I would say so. Whether an RPG is linear or open world, the primary plot still needs to be strong, or at least decent. Otherwise it's just a character doing odd jobs for everyone and their dog.

The joy of waiting...yay.

Can you use the rollback feature on Galaxy to get your game to the pre-patched version? Or is that feature not implemented yet? I am not sure as I have never used Galaxy.

I think many people would love just a game of odd jobs, but I agree that a good story is needed as well. I guess it would depend on the type of player and how diverse and immersive the open world is. Did you pick up a copy of Fallout 4, or is it not a high priority for you?

ddickinson: Good evening, quiet little thread!

I hope you are all doing well and are busy enjoying your evenings and maybe even playing a game or two? :-)

ElTerprise: Good evening *big hug*
Doing fine here despite still having a lovely headache....i was about to play more Rebel Galaxy but apparently the recent patch messed up the launcher of it....

Sorry to hear that didn't have the best day...
RG works fine for me after today's patch, it just took like 10 minutes for the patch to install.

Running "RebelGalaxyGOG.exe" directly also works.

If the world is strong enough that you have hundreds and hundreds of things to do, it definitely improves the overall experience, sometimes greatly. Thinking of Skyrim or New Vegas, where the worlds were fine to run around in (if frequently blitheringly stupid), but their main stories were both weak.

I didn't think it would be, but given that someone I've seen eviscerate games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim give it high marks, I'm a lot more interested. Regardless, it'll have to wait, though. I either need a massive video card upgrade or a current-gen console in order to play it.

As I said, I have never really played any of the big open world games, so my experience with them is very limited. I know one of my brothers enjoys the newer Far Cry games, but so far I have just never gotten around to trying any.

Hardly worth the financial investment for just one game, although people were paying hundreds for a new graphics card when the WItcher 3 came out. Are the first two Witcher games classes as open world games?

I had better try to get some sleep as I am up early in the morning with a long drive to look forward to (well, no me as such, my partner will be doing the driving as I am not allowed to drive until I am a little better). I hope you all have a lovely day, take care and good night!

*goodnight hugs and silly waves*

No idea actually. I've tried reinstalling the game a third time - this time directly through Opera - and the launcher still won't launch. I can however start the game directly by running the RebelGalaxyGOG.exe in the installation folder....

That's odd. Yeah i noticed that and the game for me that way as well.

I just that maybe the recent Windows 10 update has something to do with - hadn't played the game since then...

It does make sense if the amount of playtime stacks up favorably. Even at 425 for a console and the game, if it really does go 200 hours, then you're paying close about 2.12 an hour. That's a lot better ratio than, say, going to a theater and paying 5 dollars an hour for entertainment.

Not quite sure on the Witcher. Haven't started them yet.

Have a good night and a good day tomorrow. =)
Now that's interesting. Apparently the Rebel Galaxy Launcher exists as process - which i'm not allowed to terminate through the Sysinternals Process Explorer even with Administrator rights...O.o

Absolutely no such nonsense here, the launcher is a program which terminates when the game starts.
It's never in processes or services.

Well apparently something prevents the launcher from starting correctly - but too tired to find a solution. Will try to launch the game without the latest patch...if that doesn't change anything i guess Win10 is the perpetrator then...

Alright. Time for me to go to sleep. Good night everyone.
