j0ekerr: My past experiences with college professors went along those lines. They were more like talking reference books, walking in, dumping their load on the blackboard, then walking out, leaving most of us without a clue as to what had happened.

Not so this time, I've been lucky. Particularly the math guy, which was a subject I was specially fearful of, teaches things very clearly and doesn't resent when you ask him to go back to explain something a second or even a third time. He actually cares that we understand what he's explaining. It also helps that these guys are rather young, the chemistry guy being younger than I am. My only problem is with the law teacher. The worst part is that you can tell that she's actually trying. But she's got a bad case of "déformation professionnelle" and she just pukes out a torrent of legalese terms you drown in.
Sounds like you got lucky indeed. :) Most of the professors from my own department are excellent as well, they're capable teachers and funny to boot. The one I'm currently having troubles with is not from the English department but as she specializes in manuscripts and medieval literature we regularly cross paths. She's currently teaching my interdisciplinary module.

CarrionCrow: Arrogant plus dim....oh yeah, that'd get old to be around in a hurry.

Sounds good to me. Didn't mind the Double Insomnia variation, but having a single item on-screen at a time would probably help to keep lulls down.
Yep, and I've been toeing around her for three years now. :P Inevitably end up in her class at some point during the year even though we're from different departments.

I liked the rush from the first one. The ones that followed were kinder towards the customers but there's something oddly enticing about watching out for game for hours and then missing out on it because you went to the bathroom. xD

j0ekerr: I was reading that, and thinking... textbook case of inferiority complex, with a high likelihood of slight bipolar syndrome.

No I am not suspiciously well informed on this matter, what are you implying? 50 points off Gryffindor!
Yeah, the sad thing is I'm pretty sure most of my difficulties with her can be traced back to her inherent insecurity. She's constantly looking for confirmation, usually from other professors (I wonder if that's why she prefers to teach alongside others rather than on her own?) and if not from them, then from her own students. Which really does not work out at all, because she also wants to appear smarter than we are.

Haha, I also go around all day saying 5 points to/from Gryffindor at random events ...

Bit tired but good otherwise. Was working on a presention about the city development of København which was interesting because i had to search for (digitalised) historic maps in the city archives of København which was in Danish ( i know - quelle surprise) ... but it was quite the challenge because my Danish basically non existant (aside from a few phrases) ;)

My last insomnia I had no obligations whatsoever so I could stay glued to the screen 19 hours a day.
This time I'll have to rely on you guys for when the good stuff shows up while I'm away.
As I recall, I had a good teacher, a halfway decent one, and one that was so boring she made watching paint dry seem exciting by comparison. Paid her back for her ineptitude by constantly falling asleep in her classes. -laughs-

Insomnia might not show at all. There's no communication, no prior mention, so no one will notice unless a tidbit gets dropped by way of an outside site like with Double Insomnia.

Hoping GOG decides what they're going to do soon. My net's trying to glitch out, and I'm going to be very, very angry if I get kneecapped waiting on them and lose the backup book bundle deal.

Did you succeed in the end? It sounds challenging but fun as well. :)

Still not too good. My flu/stomach pain is refusing to go, I think it's getting too attached to me ...

Three years? Kudos to you for being able to keep from going off for that long.

Insomnia has two things standard sales don't - risk and pain. Those factors increase the natural enjoyment someone gets from acquiring new items.
Like you said, just going away for a minute could be enough of a gamble to make you lose what you waited for. That heightens the experience.

Yes. In the end i succeded - with the help of Google Translate. :)

Sorry to hear that. *big get better hug*
How is your novel progressing?

Yeah, sometimes I'm surprised at the politeness I can still muster around her ... Usually accompanied by a running stream of expletives inside my head. :P

Precisely! No pain, no gain! Go hard or go home! And all that junk. :)

Good evening. =)

Glad to hear you're doing well, aside from maybe the crash course in Danish.

Thanks. :) *thank you hug*

I managed to write 10000 words yesterday, which was pretty good. Unfortunately I'm already slowing down today. Only 2500 words so far, but I want to do at least double that before I give up for the day. :P

-laughs- Makes me think of someone my roommates know. They're a toxic waste pit of a person, a walking drama bomb, permanent victimized heroine of her own psychotic soap opera.

Needless to say, I'd giggle if she got hit by a truck.

But, I have to be polite around them, despite the aforementioned giggling at the thought of their death thing.
Being polite is a bitch sometimes.

Not much of a fan of the sports-related sayings, since those tend to boil down to people taking things way, way, way too seriously for their own good. I just think of it as suffering to get what you want. It's fun to see how much people will hurt themselves for that reason.

Haha yeah, I know the type. You don't mind if those people encounter a little misfortune. :P And yep, I sometimes curse the fact that I've been brought up to be polite and considerate of others. I find it very hard to be rude outside my head.

Oh, definitely. I breathed a sigh of relief when it became clear that the Dutch soccer team would not make it into the next European championship. People get way too worked up over that stuff.

Hello Crow :)
Thank you and that wasn't really bad because i should learn some Danish anyway for my field trip in February.

How are you doing?

Well you still have some time for that :P

So long as it occurs far enough away that it has no effect on anything connected to me, absolutely.

Balance is the goal. Don't be rude all the time, but don't be a long suffering doormat, either.
I started being more polite due to having too much fun being mean. =)

Hey now. How can you not get excited over people with only a virtually nonexistent link to yourself achieving a victory? That victory is your victory, and their worth is now your worth! That's how it works! ;)

Better you than me on that one. I do well to avoid mangling English, and I've spoken that for decades.

Can't complain here. It's a nice dark day outside, things are quiet. Just waiting to see what GOG's going to do at the moment.

Well i used to speak to some degree because my family used to travel to Denmark for holidays...but i didn't need it for years now and one usually using English is not a problem in Denmark.

Glad to hear that. It was similar here today. Yes. Let's see if we get something at 7 p.m. CET....

Yep, I'm trying to get most of the writing done this week. :P I need to do the dishes now, but afterwards I'm planning on cramming in some more writing.

I find it hard to be rude, even when the situation calls for it. But only when it comes to myself. I have no trouble calling other people out on their bullshit and nasty behavior if they're bothering others, but I'm more hesitant to do so when they're annoying me personally.

Haha, that's indeed what it often seems like. :P
