Agreed, Generals is its own thing. That's fine, wouldn't have minded seeing that become its own spinoff series.
3 felt like a different game being called Command and Conquer. The expansion was all right, but not fantastic. 4 felt like the designers and storywriters were huffing paint during the production. Never got into Red Alert 3 due to having to rely on an AI partner.
And yes, jumping the shark still applies. They were good once, but rather than a single moment, it was the game itself that qualified as the shark jump.

Indeed - but EA even messed that up with the F2P Generals they planned.....*sigh*
Yes. One of the many great series that was destroyed by AAA publishers....
