Grargar: I am confused with GOG's decision to block the Wolfenstein games on Germany and include German language on Return to Castle Wolfenstein. What's even more confusing is that the Steam release doesn't have German language support, so it was GOG that actually pushed for the inclusion of the German language. :-/
Austria and Switzerland.

Soccorro: Austria and Switzerland.
Maybe, but are they big enough markets compared to Germany for GOG to make the extra effort? For some reason, I'm inclined to believe that they put it in hoping that they could offer it to their German customers, before Bethesda told them a flat no.
Good afternoon my friends, do you like the new releases?

You have a point there. But its not bethesda who is to blame, but our stupid laws. Symbols such as the swastika are prohibited by our constitution.

swastika?

Good evenoon.
I must confess, I've never played a full Quake game; I've only played demos, and that was so long ago that I can't remember them. Wolfenstein 3D of course is the "original" FPS (not the very first, but the first really massively popular one). In my opinion, it was great when it came out 22 years ago, but doesn't quite hold up as well today, though it is still a fun and pleasant game.
That leaves Return to Castle Wolfenstein, in my opinion, is one of the best single-player FPS games of all time :-)

XxXSprayvWarXxX: swastika?
See this.
To summarize: It is a symbol found in several cultures around the world. However it got tainted due its use by the Nazi Party in Germany in the first half of 20th century.

Can't you buy the Medal of Honor Warchest though? Seems very silly, since that features swastikas too :-\

ElTerprise: Shout out for Endre for gifting me the Wolfenstein games. Thank you, Sir!
Please send him as many +1s as you can :D
avatar
ddickinson: So a German who wants to play a game about killing Germans? We always knew you were evil. :-)

*goes off to give Endre a big +1 hug*

avatar
AgentBirdnest: He certainly can't be a robot. Humans aren't capable of creating something that nasty, are they? I always assumed he was some sort of deformed and de-feathered goose-man hybrid that someone rescued :-)
avatar
ddickinson: I don't know, those Moomins have invented some horrible things. :-)

Stilton: ...

ddickinson: And hello, Mr Viking!

Sorry I keep missing you and not saying hello, that is very rude of me. I am not following the thread fully as at the moment I find it a little difficult to keep up and focus on things, but I just wanted to say a big hello to the soft Southern Viking! :-)

*big Viking hug*
Hi, Deed ;-)

Don't worry about being rude, you tough northern Viking, you ;-)

*soft southern Viking return hug*

Stilton: Done ;-)

ElTerprise: Thank you. And in case it drowned in the recent posts: I'm sorry to hear about you having a hernia. Hopefuly than can be fixed (more or less easily) :)
Thanks, Elt :-)

It feels fairly minor, to be honest. I'm actually looking forward to getting it done as I don't mind minor surgery. I had four operations on my neck about twenty years ago (in that instance more major than minor) and I really enjoyed it - it was fascinating. Although recovering can get a little awkward/painful.

I just had the most awesome yoga workout ever and now I'm feeling super happy and super sleepy. :P

Stilton: That sounds like a joy. I'm not in the least bit green-fingered, but I really enjoy the sights and smells of a garden. Around this time of year there's that lovely fecund smell of the earth and leaves breaking down and enriching. I used to live in town but I'm now out in the countryside. Its the best move I ever made :-)

DampSquib: It is a joy, keeps me sane if the weather permits.
I'm in Cumbria, high winds & salt air can dictate what will grow, small victories once in a while over mother nature.
Lived in the local town once, never again, hated every second of it.
Wouldn't mind getting rid of the seagulls, sandwich stealing PITA, Cumbria's very own cliff racers.
Cumbria's on my list of places to see.
I'm down in Somerset, which I love. Its pleasantly rural with some beautiful villages scattered around, and quite a few amazing National Trust properties. We've got druidic sites and ancient burial mounds, and loads of interesting history.
Beats the bum off London, which I return to very seldom, thankfully. The place is pretty revolting now, which is such a shame. I have very fond memories of the old parts, but they've changed too much to be the same.
