I don't entirely disagree. Gaming soundtracks have developed, ever since the playstation first appeared into full orchestral pieces just like those of movies. So it's meaningless to differentiate between games and movies, it's all soundtracks. And any soundtrack, depending on taste can be good work background music.

Not Dead Space's though.

Just did a major update with my music, it's ALL been crammed into one easy peasy pay what you want (even if that amounts to zero dollars and zero cents) album. Find it at http://pressler.bandcamp.com/releases if you're interested.

As for my musical future, along with working towards building my own synth(s) and effects, I think I'm heading back towards more "traditional" stuff. I'd like to go for a lounge jazz meets hard rock sound but I think I'll settle for a "Type O Negative meets Sigue Sigue Sputnik" sound for now. What I'll actually probably end up doing...I have no idea.

Well in my experience movie soundtracks want to capture your emotions all the time. Gaming has the advantage of being ambient more often, when the player is doing stuff.
So yes both are similar, but the probability of finding a soundtrack fitting my descriptions is higher when looking at video games.
