Hmm....to Star Rule or not to Star Rule that the question here .... has anyone play Star Ruler 2?

CarrionCrow: Your case is way worse than mine. With mine, people screw it up because other letter combos are more common and reading is hard, apparently.
With yours, there isn't even that excuse. They're just half-braindead.

FearfulSymmetry: People misspell my name all the time. Usually they just get some letters wrong, but I've occasionally ended up with a different first name. The thing I hate most though is when I send people e-mails, sign with my name, and then in their reply they spell my name wrong. Come on people, it's not that hard, the name is right there in front of you.
OMG. Now I'm laughing over here... I worked at my last job for almost eight and a half years. By the time I left, there were only a couple of people who'd been in that office longer than me, and they were management. People who knew me, literally from my first day there, STILL misspelled my first name routinely, even when answering my emails, because it's the slightly-less-popular spelling of a popular name from 70s. With my first name, I've gotten to the point where I just don't care anymore. The last name tends to send me through the roof, even after 16 years of marriage, because it's just stupidity that makes it hard for people.
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: Or they just don't care enough, apparently. :P
True. I assume that's the main reason people mix up my name....granted my surname is also a german given name but they only have to look carefully....-.-

Nobody here ever gets my surname right (it's Italian), either to pronounce or spell. Coupled with my Irish accent (fainter now, but still there enough to mean even when I spell my name out to people over the phone they get it wrong). I'm pretty resigned to the fact these days...

But if I had a penny for every time I've had to say have this exchange:
"F"
"S?"
"No, F"
"Yes, S"
"F for Freddie"
"Ah. S"
*facepalm*

I'd be rich :)

It's obvious, you have a lisp.
Didn't you know? :-)

EndreWhiteMane: Agreed, time to try to save up for better 'puter. :-)
Don't remind me of that. :-)
Well,. I'm out to lunch. I'll try to get back soon.

CarrionCrow: Well, they might be idiots, or they might be too lazy to look for half a second and see your name.
Pick whichever scenario makes you feel better about humanity. ;)
Ummmm ... neither? :P Haha, I guess most people are just lazy.

That is so annoying. I can't believe that after so many years people just can't be bothered to actually get your name right. >.> And yep, I can totally imagine you getting upset about it. My problems are pretty minor in comparison. For my first name, for instance, I have a silent 'h' at the end that usually doesn't make it. :P

First names are just as bad, and people are just as absurdly stupid.
Pretty sure I've ended up with some jackass or another try to give me every variation on my name possible.
Unsurprisingly, they never seem to notice the daggers I stare at them as they keep talking and I start wishing they'd get hit by a bus already.

That one has tempted me since it got here. The only thing stopping me is it seems very 'battle-centric'.
I like exploration more than fighting. It gets very good reviews everywhere though.
Keep in mind that the dev has said there probably won't be any more games if this one doesn't sell extremely well.
That might just be hype though.

It's clearly a possibility I have to consider.

It gets to the point where I can't actually be bothered to argue. I just spell it and hope they get it at least somewhat correct...
We used to get all sorts of bizarre variations on letters when I was a kid because my father's first name is Italian too and Irish people clearly struggled with that... but funnily enough the post always seemed to arrive no matter how ridiculous a name they put on it (I think the post man just brought anything with an odd name on it to us as a matter of course...)
Okay, so the first impression on my new avatar were great, so how about everyone else?

Well, like I said, I've just given up on the first name and shrug a lot. The thing that makes it even better is that my middle name starts with "E," and a lot of paperwork requests your middle initial. If you add an "e" to the end of my first name, it makes an uncommon-but-not-rare spelling of a fairly common name... which is pronounced completely differently from my name. Government agencies, doctors' offices, and companies do this ALL THE TIME. I don't care about the super-common spelling change in my first name, but the adding-the-middle-initial-to-the-end thing drives me nuts, especially if it's someone who does that AND calls me "Mrs. [not-my-first-name] Smith." I tend to get pretty rude at that point.

It's funny, really. I'm actually really good with names, and with remembering how other people spell theirs... but very few people get mine right. You'd think I'd just get used to it over time, but nope. Still drives me batty.

Yes i'm aware of the situation and it certainly looks interesting but i'm not sure and it "only" 40 percent off....
