Stilton: --laughing quite a lot--
We must've been related in a past life, with the same schizophrenic tendencies and belief that life could be a lot better if the people who had a chance to make it so had something more useful than cow crap for brains.
CarrionCrow: That's a lofty hope right there. I've managed to rebound from the feeling that 99.9999 percent of humanity has cow shit for brains to a comparatively downright optimistic 95 to 97 percent. ;)
That may be said in jest (possibly), but I think its pretty accurate.
A case in point being last week when I sent my mother a typewriter because she wants to do some writing and her handwriting isn't what it used to be (she's in her eighties).
I selected a courier service, paid the fee, packed the typewriter and it was collected.
But it didn't arrive. Several days later it still hadn't arrived.
Feeling the slow realization that I had been dumped on creeping up my spine I looked online (foolishly after I had trusted them with my property) to discover that scores of others had been dumped on too, by this same crowd of vaguely humanoid entities (I won't dignify or legitimise them by calling them people), whose delivery technique in an alarming number of cases is to (a) leave the item on a doorstep without knocking on the door, regardless of the time of day or night, (b) hide it in an unsuitable place (plain sight of passers by is a common one) or (c) throw it over a hedge into the recipients' front garden (unbelievable, but true). They then sign for it themselves with a scrawl to 'prove' they have done their job properly and that's it.
They go by the name of Yodel, so if anyone in the UK wants to pay good money to throw their property away pointlessly they're the right humanoid entities for the job.
95-97 percent might even be a tad optimistic.
adaliabooks: Hey everyone.
Been enjoying Shadowrun, can't believe it's been sitting there since Insomnia and I put off playing it... especially for Halfway.. :/
Already planning out my character for Dragonfall (assuming they don't throw in some more new and interesting skills in that that I might prefer).
I see there's a sale on :)
Only picked up Spacechem so far, because it was £0.69 and well, why the hell not for that price? It would only get spent on a bar of chocolate or a bag of carrots otherwise...
Can't say I'm that involved with this one, I've got loads of great games to play already and it doesn't have the fun gimmicks of insomnia (having to spend loads of money for free games I don't really want isn't that appealing)
How's everyone else?
Hi Adalia. How's the food biz/game programming/world creating? Long time no Jive Talkin' ;-)
