genkicolleen: It's not official yet, but it looks like I've got the job~! Woohoo~! He has to pass things by his boss first, but as long as there are no unexpected hiccups along the way, it looks like I'll be starting on June 8th! ^__^
That's wonderful news! Congratulations, I am so happy for you. Fingers crossed it all works out great. And what perfect news to have on your birthday.

*big happy hug*

ddickinson: The same conditions? I know, but we don't have Bubonic plague in Europe anymore, so you will have to make do. :-)

Why did you not enjoy the Merchant of Venice? Was it just the play, or the performance? I am glad the weather was nice, and that you managed to enjoy the sun.

I will still be working 12+ hours, but at least I get my evenings back.
So sad. :P You're right, I wouldn't want the same conditions. Apparently, in Shakespeare's day, the audience didn't pay all that much attention to the play. They were too busy watching the rich people in the seats, buying food and shouting at the actors ... and apparently there were whores as well. :P

The performance, I suppose. They were wearing modern clothes, and as theater in the Netherlands tends to be very modern and experimental, this felt sort of same-ish to other plays I had already seen. Weirdly enough the plays in period clothing were much more fresh for me. :P We also felt that the production was trying too hard to be artsy and clever. The reviews in general aren't very favourable. It was the first play I saw last week and I felt it was okay until I saw the other plays and realized Merchant couldn't even begin to compare to those.

Ugh, sounds tough ...

Back from my 1 week post op check up everything is healing well. Picked up my missing supplies and the doctor gave me a dilator set.

ElTerprise: Glad to gear that. I hope the days won't be too busy...
The next few days definitely will be, so hopefully there will not be a big sale. :-)

Whores? And to think these days all we get are snacks like peanuts. :-)

Unfortunately many places are going down the "artsy", personally I think this ruins them. I am glad that you enjoyed the other plays, it would have been such a waste if you came all the way and only saw less enjoyable plays.

12+ hours is my normal work hours, so I am used to them. It will be nice going back to 12+ hours rather than 18 hours.
Hey everyone.
Just popping in quickly to say hello. In Manchester for the Foo Fighters concert tomorrow, really looking forward to it, it should be great.
Hope you guys are all ok, I should have more time again after this weekend so will probably be hanging out here more again (so you can all look forward to my riveting company :P)

I'll leave you with one of my favourite lines from their songs:
"We're just ordinary people, you and me.
Time will turn us into statues, eventually" - Statues

I know, right? ;)

Don't worry, Love's Sacrifice and Jew of Malta were especially brilliant to me, I really enjoyed every minute of those plays and I'd have loved to see them again if only I'd had the time and money. :D And I managed to buy a whole load of books in Stratford too, which meant that my trip was even more awesome.

I really don't envy your working hours ... o.o

Hello! It feel like I have not seen you for days.

How are you? I hope you have lots of fun at the concert tomorrow.

I hear that Ireland is annoying the Pope again by passing laws that he is not too pleased with. And you all wondered why the Pope did not visit Ireland when he was in the UK (which was really strange - visit a nation that is famous for splitting form the church and fighting off several sanctioned crusades, but neglect a country that is famous for supporting your religion). :-)

I am just glad that you enjoyed your trip and were able to get some good books.

I know the hours are off putting for a lot of people, but the work is so rewarding, and I love doing it, so it never bothers me. I would take my job over an office job or one that keeps me cooped up indoors.

That's because you haven't :)
I've been working all weekend at festivals and events and didn't really get a chance to come on and post. I seem to remember having a brief chat with Crow on Sunday evening but I think that was it.

I'm fine thank you, I'm sure I will. I love live music, nothing else like it in the world, and the Foos are absolutely fantastic live. Short of almost getting crushed in the crowd (happened at a gig in Paris a few years back) I can't see us not having fun.

As stated earlier in the thread, I don't think I've ever been more proud to be Irish. Good on them :)
First country in the world to support equality by popular vote, who'd of thought it of highly Catholic Ireland?

Well, that's the most important thing. As long as it's a job you enjoy doing things can never get too bad. :)

Well, I'm off to bed, loads to do tomorrow. See you later, everyone!

I'm not entirely sure but you said something like GOG likes to have interesting sales in the most inconvenient moments for some people. You answered me when i mentioned that i hoped that GOG wouldn't have an interesting weekend sale while me being at FedCon...
if i'm not mistaken...

Well in my defence, I have not been on much these last few days. :-)

I remember you mentioning the concert a while ago, and I am glad to hear you and your partner get to enjoy some relaxation and fun after your long weekend of hard work.

So was the Irish vote up to the public? In the UK it was just passed in parliament without the need for a mass vote, but I guess with Ireland being Catholic that it makes sense. What I liked about the UK's approach, was that they are not forcing the churches to accept the changes, but the churches can perform same sex marriages if they wish (otherwise it will be performed by a licensed Registrar in a non-religious ceremony). I am all for people being treated the same no matter what, but I also do not think it would be fair to force a religion to do things they believe is against their faith, even if others see their believes as outdated. Is the Church in Ireland bound to the decision, or is it optional like in the UK?

Now I remember.

Also, I am not liking this new bug where if you make a post it is hidden until someone else posts. What is strange is that it's only hidden for the person posting, as you can see the post when logged off. It seems to happen when the post is on a new page, not sure if it's just a bug at my end or if others have noticed it.
