I wonder if you had agreed he would have then gone on to try to talk you into sharing the actual game as well. Maybe he pretends to just need the patch to make you think he owns the game then tries for the game as well. What other reason could he have for the patch?

Probably nothing.
What can GOG do really, they can block the account, but scammers will just open a new account. Maybe GOG should do what Steam mentioned and make people spend some money on GOG before they can use the services. It won't stop them all but it will stop a lot of them.

She doesn't like MMOs or tabletop RPGs and she thinks Shin Megami Tensei is overrated.

That's okay, it is good to have different interests and opinions on some things. As long as you two have a nice time when you are together then that is what is important.

Well as I mentioned he might be chinese, (certainly he claimed to be from that time zone). Many of their scammers are so simplistic and blunt that it makes you question if it's really a scam or just a total moron.

I think it's just a pisspoor grasp of English versus being actually stupid. Even that CNN video of the Chinese officer trying to order a recon plane to turn around sounded like a charley chan movie from the 30s.
