CarrionCrow: Not too bad here. Played Icewind for quite a while yesterday.
I'd forgotten just how large the dungeons are, how many dozens or hundreds of enemies each one has, and how much management there is for a 6 person party.
Think I spent half an hour just distributing loot, deciding what to keep and sell after I cleared all of the last dungeon without going back to town in the middle. -laughs-

What did you end up grabbing from the promo?
avatar
ElTerprise: Okay. The D&D games are yet to be played by me....but Icewind Dale sounds really interesting....

I bought Dragon Commander, The Ball, Quest for Infamy and Vertical Drop Heroes HD - still thinking about Megabyte Punch (a think i'll pass on Desktop Dungeon and The Banner Saga for this time - so i put them on my wishlist).

Do you got anything from the promo? Or Transistor?
Icewind's story is pretty basically presented, even moreso than I remembered in that you essentially are given breadcrumb trails by questgivers sending you from one hours-long dungeon to the next to progress the story, but it's definitely a way to get all the combat mechanics down since you'll get killed running them if you don't maximize what you have and what you get.

Dragon Commander's supposed to be in the decent to good range and I've heard Judas say at length that Quest of Infamy is amazing. Bought it based on his recommendation.

No promo purchases, I already have Banner Saga, Desktop Dungeons, Mark of the Ninja, Wizardry 6-8, Quest for Infamy, Mind, Cognition, Dragon Commander and Vertical Drop Heroes.
The rest aren't on my list.

Kept going back and forth on buying Transistor, but I mentioned it one time too many in the thread and D solved my problem by ninja gifting me it. If I wasn't already neck-deep in Icewind, I'd be playing that right now.

Ended up grabbing Infested Planet and tried it, it's a bit on the disappointing side. The concept of a few soldiers versus literally tens of thousands of enemies starts getting stale much faster than I would have hoped.
It's ultimately point defense, having to capture zones after you destroy the enemy base set up on the spot, trying to advance while defending what you've already taken.
The game has potential, but it also has problems that should have been noticed, like the inability of your team to get in range of enemies and fire without being micromanaged. As it stands, you'll frequently have soldiers picking their asses because they aren't moving forward to engage despite being told to do so after the whole team was selected.
Also, more than once I've had soldiers killed because they decided the best path to nearby enemies was to saunter around a rock outcropping that's filled with enemies, getting boxed in and slaughtered in the process.

CarrionCrow: If you want a seriously NSFW video? Check out Marilyn Manson's (s)AINT video.
I'd be amazed if it isn't behind a log-in wall on Youtube as adult material, but if you don't mind the hassle and want to see a video that would probably get someone straight-up fired for playing around the office, that one will certainly do the trick.
Or Smack My Bitch Up from The Prodigy (one of my favourite music videos btw.) or Pussy by Rammstein or Satisfaction by Benassi (extended version) or Placebo - Protege Moi or Britney Spears - 3 (XXX edit) or Robbie Williams - Come Undone (Director's Cut), or or or...
There's even a topless version of good ol' Alice Cooper's Poison that used to run on German TV, but I couldn't find it on the interwebs up to now.

toxicTom: The first IWD still has the abysmal pathfinding from BG1, right? Or is there a way to "upgrade" it to BG2 level?
The pathfinding is a bit odd. Sometimes it works perfectly well, other times (usually when the party is bunched up around a door they all need to enter to advance) they lose their minds a bit and need to be untangled first.
It hasn't affected combat at all, I haven't ever died because of it, but it is a nuisance at times.

I can't remember the video, but I have heard that Prodigy song roughly a thousand times.
From what I heard, Pussy is a music video with hardcore porn included, so yeah, that one would probably get a person in trouble at work. -laughs-

You weren't kidding. I like the song a lot - for whatever reason, I've randomly missed a lot of his stuff since Mechanical Animals. I'm pretty amused that he felt free to show everything from cutting to shibari to full female nudity, but wasn't quite up to male nudity. (The husband got a giggle at the cocaine on the Bible.) Not something I'd care to watch often, but a gorgeously done video, nonetheless.

I still recommend Vintage Trouble for awesome music. ;)

Dammit, stop recommending music to me. I'm trying to get out the door to do massive amounts of laundry. :P

That is a bit odd, but not surprising. Nude females always seem to get more of a pass inclusion-wise than fully nude males do. (Shock of shocks...)

My Mansion progression was a bit weird. Got Smells Like Children first, rather than a non-remix tape, then worked both backwards and forwards. Lost track of his stuff post-Golden Age of Grotesque, started checking out during Mechanical since I prefer much louder and faster music and he seemed to slow down quite a bit on that one.

Hee. I was introduced to Manson by a friend who saw the band when they opened for NIN right after Portrait came out. I borrowed the tape (cassettes! remember those?) and didn't give it back for over a month. lol. ("Cake and Sodomy" is still one of my all-time favorite "mad at the world/fuck you all" songs.) I ended up getting Children the day it came out and when it hit "Sweet Dreams" in the car, I commented that he really needed to release that one as a single.... yeah. Antichrist was another day-one buy, and I think Mechanical Animals was delayed by our move to Montana. That's actually one of my favorite albums of his, but it's probably largely because I appreciate the style/Bowie homage. Since then, I've pretty much picked up mostly on his singles, which is a little sad, because often the best songs on his albums aren't the ones that get released.

You want a shocking thought? If they use the date of the first official album release, Marilyn Manson qualifies for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in four years. (If they went by band formation, they would have arguably qualified last year.)

Yeah thought about Infested Planet too, watched the video from Northenlion about the game and put it on the wishlist to keep it in mind. But what you just described makes me think of turning my back on it.
Yeah i read somwhere in the forum that Quest for infamy is supoosed to be great - and i just bought it then. Maybe i buy some mor stuff from it to get over 300 ;P...

I'm still undecided about Transistor.....

Yes, I certainly do remember. I can also remember the overpriced Wherehouse store I used to purchase them from.

Think I was introduced by an acquaintance who hung around the same chunk of downtown that I did as a teenager.
Got that first one, then got the others that were out at the time shortly after.

That should be amusing to see, when all the zealots decide to throw their two cents in that he doesn't deserve to be honored because he hurt their feelings. -laughing hard-

Summer is coming, and it's a buyer's market. If nothing else stands out, I'd say to wait until the next sale hits, or until the big one hits in roughly a month and a half.

Yeah. Will probably do that - which might make the summer sale quite expensive considering the number gams i've on my wishlist ;)

Anyway. I'm off for the moment. See you all later *hugs and waves* :)

Oh, god, the Wherehouse. Hehehe. That's the place where I bought three copies of the soundtrack for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure because they had the weirdest problem I've ever heard of.... BOTH of the first two copies I got were the wrong tape. The package, the casette label, everything was right, but the actual music on the tape was some R&B/pop thing that was just horrid. You should've seen me trying, at around age 14, to convince the clerk that no, there really was a problem with the tape I'd just bought, as well as the replacement that they'd given me. I think they ended up having to order a copy specially.

Well, the zealots already freaked out over Madonna, because apparently they forgot that "rock and roll" doesn't cover just one thing. *shrug* He'll play it for publicity, make more music, and be as entertaining as ever. Hell, playing the HoF politics worked for KISS.

That's pretty bad. Sounds like they screwed up part if not all of the batch of tapes, so you ended up with multiple examples of their mistake.

People like convenient labels that go along with their notion of what something is.
If that gets switched up, their brains tend to be unable to cope with it, they get defensive.
Picked up TLJ again.

It's awkward realizing that the pre-rendered FMV which was supposed to be mouth dropping eye candy actually looks far worse than any in-game engine models nowadays.

Really hope GOG picks up 2K on board. We need the original X-Com and Civ games here.

And I picked up my old copy of Spore with XPak,Diablo 2 and CivIV.

No, I'm too young for that. I started with a C64 and missed the good old times of text adventures and ascii-graphics ;)

I started with a Dos based PC with SVGA graphics and played the crap out of adventure games and Ultima VII.
