It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

toxicTom: GOGwiki is not GOG. I'm a little confused on what you are trying to achieve. If you need a GOGwiki account, contact Barefoot_Monkey as self-registering is disabled to prevent spam accounts.
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: Thanks for your help and responding to the side note, but it was more the "eyes of the Thread" who'll know, than being directed to you. I was requested to set up a GoG user wiki, so I can have a wishlist posted...

avatar
toxicTom: Concerning Java... Both gog.com and Barefoot Essentials require JavaScript to work. But that's nor Java, even if it sound similar. Stay away from Java, especially the browser plugins, except you really need it.
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: Aye, saw the JavaScript requirement, thought it was part of Java, which I have been hesitant to install, but was requested by a friend to install it for something else too, and since it failed, it will remain not installed, happily.

avatar
toxicTom: Do you have by chance JavaScript disabled, i.e. by installing a plugin like NoScript? While that is basically a good idea for people who know what they're doing, it can prevent the correct functioning of many websites. You can contact me by PM if you need help, but it might take a while before I'm able to answer.
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: The odd thing is that Firefox used to work just fine, with GoG.com or anything else, it was my backup when Explorer failed. All I did was updated Firefox first. to 37.0.2 then followed Barefootmonkey's directions. Everything installed just fine. I'm thinking it is a Firefox problem (or a GoG site issue?) and not the addons.

I won't want to bother you with this, when I can bother Hyper or Crow about it, not that bothering you wouldn't be as fun. :)
Honestly, I'm at a bit of a loss. When I wanted to set one up, Hyper was kind enough to walk me through it.
I was clueless before that point.
You've got a way better chance of getting good info from Tom. He's a tech guy, he actually knows what he's doing rather than using a hodgepodge of accumulated crap to get by like I do. -laughs-

EndreWhiteMane: Hi Hyper! Sorry you still don't feel well.
I was not getting the 'account' item in Firefox for a while yesterday either.
No idea why, it fixed itself after a few hours.
I do know the BE script was loading very, very slowly also. Others mentioned this too. Today it seems fine.
Hi Endre, how's the knee doing?

The site had been crawling for days, but it seems things have improved today.

akhliber: I hope you feel better soon, good sir! :)
Hey akhliber, how are you doing?

And hi to everyone else. And good night at the same time; being under the weather makes me feel tired pretty easily, so after finishing The Dig, I'm going to go lie down, and if lucky even fall sleep at a decent hour.

Do you have other add-ons installed? If yes, which ones?
I thinlk I'm going to sleep now. Got really tired...
See you all later :)

I have arthritis and a bit of old age. They act up every so often.
Sorry to hear you're so tired, hope you sleep well tonight.

HypersomniacLive: ... I don't know who told you to install Java, but I assure you that it's not needed for using the GOGWiki site.
Someone else (non GoG tribal member) had asked me to install it for something else... it didn't work and I'm fine with that.

avatar
HypersomniacLive: Greasemonkey should also not interfere with your GOG nav bar. Can you try to uninstall and reinstall it? Did you install the Barefoot Essentials 2.0 script?

You should be able to set up your GOGWiki page any way you like, even without the Barefoot Essentials 2.0 script, it just makes things simpler and automates the procedure of importing your wishlist and game shelf.
Yes, I installed the Greasemonkey and Barefoot Essentials as Barefootmonkey's instructions spelled out (which installed just fine). I'll fiddle a bit with Firefox to see if it might be some setting issues before I uninstall and reinstall it.

To be honest, I've often found that the automation of things doesn't make them simpler,
and I might find it simpler to manually add all the details to set up the wiki, though more time consuming. heh!

But I must admit, after hearing about the Barefoot Essentials, I would like to see it in action at least once, though I probably won't use it all the time once it is set up. Too much luxury for me... Using GoG as it is makes me almost feel like I'm back in the '90's :P

Goodnight "return hugs and waves" :)

Just the two, Barefootmonkey's instructions pointed out, but I don't see any JavaScript installed, if it is. Although GoG.com worked in Firefox in the past...

Well, all this can wait, hope you get that hour of sleep, or two even, we can PM about it when you're feeling better, which I also hope will be soon!

I'm at a lost for these new fangled high level script coding stuff. a constantly upgraded hodgepodge indeed.

Whilst I'm sure Tom is highly qualified, and competent, 'twas not he who asked me to set up a GoG User wiki!

I'm doing quite well, thanks! And good night to you, as well.

Actually, good night to all of you, at least hopefully... it's early as crap, but I'm a bit under-slept, and I'm ready for a nap, at the very least. :)
Does anyone else think the forum has lost a lot of traffic lately? Maybe it's just a normal lull but feels like a lot of regular posters decided to take a break or quit. Even the new release threads seem less busy, although there may be more of them and that could be the reason.

Kind of feels that way with me too. I don't know why.

I have a suspicion that some people have quit because of the perceived increase of negative behaviour - the hostility, down repping, trolling etc. It is a real shame if that's the case, I just hope the forum hasn't reached a tipping point it won't recover from.
Must admit I've noticed a bit of general hostility around here lately too. It's strange, it was always one of the friendliest places around barring the odd bit of drama.
I'm around :) just been tired from trying to fix a laptop for wife for a long time.
She named it Grandmother and so far the old lady has been nice to us.
So might be getting more playing and surf time ;p

Once you have them, you won't go back, trust me ;-) The quick post/reply buttons are just too convenient as is the CTRL-Y shortcut to insert hyperlinks. And let's not forget the the post preview with tag-checking (since GOG won't show any errors if you got your quotes mixed up).

Btw: Good morning all! *hugs and waves*
