New apartment move today. Will be a nice break from my key farming. 175 black lion chests last week cost me about 340 gold to open and yielded about 1400 gold in current market value. Among stuff like a permanent black lion merchant, ancient sapling node, and nine shadow skins (six are squirlled away for later), plus a ton of superminis (hope they make the dupes useful) and other sundry stuff like a celestial dye.

ne_zavarj: Hello .
Hope you're doing ok.

ElTerprise: That's odd....maybe firewall or antivirus blocking the start?
No, it's nothing like this.
It's a know problem with Gothic and Windows 7/64 and sometimes Windows 8 too. Strangely, for some people, it runs fine out of the box. Another one wrote it helped to simply restart Windows after installing Gothic.

Damn, had I known I would run into tricky problems like this, I would have bought the Gothic pack from the Tower promo. I guess the GOG version is fixed. But well, too late... And right now I don't feel like spending ~10 Euro for a single game that I already have and that is just too stubborn to work.

It's really annoying. Something similar was the reason i bought Fahrenheit on GOG (on of the first games i bought here) because i wasn't able to get my retail version to run...

That was a benevolent god trying to help you out, and you spurned that assistance. -laughing hard-

Reminds me of that thread where the OP was paranoid about Rayman's files being malware and everyone saying otherwise was jerking GOG off.

Soy MILK not soy SAUCE ;)

Also, just popping in on a gorgeous day to say what an afternoon of sports (professional - I know, I should be playing them on a day like this ;) ) Nirvana. Been nice sitting on the after yardwork, radio in one hand beer in the other LOL.

Hmm..are you referring to me or Tom...because my problems with Fahrenheit made my buy games at GOG ;).
(or do i misunderstand your post...)
I just looked it up. Fahrenheit was acutally the first along with Cossacks and The Witcher....

I was jokingly referring to Fahrenheit not working. Not a huge fan of it, so I tend to make fun at every opportunity.

In all seriousness, wouldn't want people having problems getting games to work, whether or not I like them.
I vividly remember the obnoxiousness of trying to dig through the guts of games, trying everything possible to make them function.

I thought so. Problem was that i only played a bit of it before i got it here, After i played more of it i was somewhat disappointed by game *sigh*.

But with Scarface i have another game with still refuses to work and which we probably won't see here in the near future...

BTW: Were you able to solve the problems you had with Netflix?

Yes, that's Fahrenheit. An interesting opening that rapidly turns to shit.

Never did have a chance to play the Scarface game, definitely wouldn't mind it coming here.
One of the many reasons why GOG needs to be around - at least they give enough of a crap to make old games work while re-releasing them.

It seems to have resolved itself once again. Switched over to the Windows 8 app, then tried it on my browser a bit ago and it's all working properly for the moment.
I think they try to change things up, and it makes the Silverlight plug-in malfunction from time to time.

EndreWhiteMane: Doing OK, finally getting some rain. ;)

tinyE: Me too. Problem is that always makes the power go out up here. XD
Aretha Franklin once said she never loved a man.

I think I do.

Be afraid, tinyE.
