Vnlr: Good day everyone!

Just went bicycling. I've been through fields, forests and wetlands; and Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany.

To make it seem less like I'm bragging, I'll note for the record that I live in Maaseik, the dutch border is about 150 yards away from my front porch and It's only a short trip to Sittard and by a slightly further extent Germany. ;p

It's quite convenient that the main tourist atraction in the local provinces are the cycling paths.

for the record, I have a clean .NET 4.5.1 install and the game refuses to work, still stating "game requires .NET 3.5 or newer to...". I noticed these prerequisites are checked in an ini file. I could create a virtual disk image and mod it there, then use that virtual disc to install the game...I hope; but we'll see about that.

anything been going on here?
Dag!
I've been cycling earlier too..

Still odd with the game. Are you able to install .Net 3.5 along 4.5.1?

I'd better have some exceedingly simple bidding for them to do.
LOL!

Any small dogs? For some reason I've been wanting a Boston Terrier or little black french bulldog. If you get sick of one I'll give you my address and you can poke a few holes in a crate for me...

EndreWhiteMane: Morning all.
What's exciting today?
Referring to volumes of the HG?
Morning Endre, having some tea without biscuits, because I already ate them. Also trying to recruit potential crafters to finish the tower.

The radio plays actually.

The later books were even worse, full of doom and gloom. Even Adams was dissatisfied with them. "I was having a very bleak year, so what came out was a very bleak book". He actually wanted to write something more upbeat and less depressing.

But then, that happened.

Can you say irony?

Now that baseball season has started, mine's been getting a lot of action as well.

And don't worry, I'm not going to have Crow ship me dogs via freight ;)

Good morning Endre.

Exciting are done already (cycling) - now i'm working for university again...

j0ekerr: ---------------------------------------------------------
So I've been listening to the secondary, tertiary, quandary and quintessential phases all in a row.

My main problem with it all is that it's pretty much impossible to actually like any of the characters. Sure you can root for them, but you don't have to like them. All too often I felt I wanted to punch Ford in the face.

Even Arthur is guilty of moments which deserve their own Darwin award.

And the way tertiary seems to dismiss everything that happened in secondary without ever explaining why.

Good morning. =)

Nothing exciting here, just killing time til people get back so my babysitting job can be done.

How are you feeling?

No, they're all large. Two are spastic, and one likes to urinate when they get anxious.
Even if I did send you one, you'd be sending it back in less than a week.

The only thing I can think of, more boring than a radio broadcast of a baseball match, would be a cricket match.

Or possibly, golf.

The BBC does some really awesome radio dramas. I was quite surprised to find this.

Cycling is fun, I do that whenever my body allows. ;)
Still feeling pretty bad but it'll pass.

Easy training then, find their flavour of meth and stuff it down the pants of people you hate.

Cats are always assholes.

Not too good yet, thinking of moving the computer to the bathroom. ;)

I didn't feel very connected to the characters, but I must say that I took a liking to Arthur's totaly inept way of stumbling through affairs (perhaps more than to the person himself); Arthur to me is sort of the..."goede seut" (good sod?) who hasn't a clue as to what and why.

Ford and Zaphod are of course annoying and not very emphatic towards other people, but I don't necesarily dislike them for it.

I ussually have weird affinities towards persons in books (my all time favourite from Tolkien's works has to be Saruman, for reasons I myself cannot quite fathom). But perhaps that is partially due to the fact that I have very vivid imagination (yesterday while preparing a tabletop rpg session, I suddenly had a very lifelike image of an orc with udders stuck on his helmet in my mind's eye, where it lingered for the rest of the evening).

For some reason I also have far greater trouble "connecting" with characters in video games than with those in novels.

ie, when reading Gaunt's ghost, you really get involved with these fancy characters. I felt dreadfull when my favourite, "try again" Bragg died.

In mass effect (granted, perhaps not such a shining example) I couldn't care less. I like quarians and by extend Tali, but appart from a chat in the engine room I didn't care about it anymore (and I gave up on the games before bothering with romancing in any way).

The only little sting I ever felt for losing a character in a video game, was on my first morrowind playthrough when Gaius Cossades leaves for Cyrodill. He was always there as a given, he was friendly, he pointed you to essential lore and lovely quests, and then he's gone all of a sudden; Which felt as if a basic assumption about the game suddenly went missing.

And don't get me started on Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin <3

Yeah i really like cycling and i thankfully have the opportunities to do it a lot :).

j0ekerr: As far as my limited knowledge goes the undercarriage is usually a plate of quite strong steel precisely in anticipation of such hits.

It can still break though.

I remember having to drive through twisty mountain roads one and a half lanes wide while on the job. Every time I neared a curve I began playing 'La cucaracha' on the horn.

It was nerve wrecking.
Yeah, that's what I was meaning. I don't think it's broken, just come loose slightly from the van itself.

Sounds somewhat similar to the roads in the Lake District...

It's been a while since I've read them (or listened to the radio versions) but I love the Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy, the first few books are definitely better but I still like the last few as well.
I love Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency books too, absolutely bonkers but hilarious (just like HG really)

French bulldogs are so cute. I'm not usually much of a fan of small dogs (more of a giant dog kind of guy) but I would have a French bulldog because they are adorable.
