ddickinson: So, what do you all have planned for the weekend? Anything fun, or just relaxing?
avatar
toxicTom: Little one's birthday party times two...

Tomorrow with family and (our) friends, Sunday with the kindergarten friends. That's why I spent most of the week tidying this place ;-)
avatar
ddickinson: Chaos never rests, and so neither can those loyal to the Imperium. We must stand ever vigilant against the Ruinous Powers.
avatar
toxicTom: Considering my battle with Chaos this week, I think I've earned a promotion... ;-)
I would say at least a knighthood. Sir Tom has a good ring to it?

Wouldn't it be nice if you could have just had the parties outside in the park, with no clearing to do!
avatar
FearfulSymmetry: That's great! Is it a one year program or a longer one?
No. I'm in a common (atleast in germany) four-semester i.e. two-years programme to get my M.Sc in Geography.

EndreWhiteMane: Need to upload the image to the wiki then call it out in your info sheet.

Edit: Use the 'upload file' link on the lower left.
Edit2: Like this: |image = Endre123.jpg
Thank you! Will try it out.

ZenWan: It depends on how many students there are for the higher degrees. In my field (Philosophy) there were only a couple of us, with very different topics, so it was more 'one-on-one' tutorials.

Glad there's some humour there, some academics can be so puffed-up and dry and pompous that one can hardly resist going after them with a pin.
Ah yes, I can imagine that would be different. There are about sixty of us in my study at the moment. My smallest ever class consisted of ten people, but that was a course for my minor, and not for my main study.

Yes, I love the humor. It makes the studying easier. Later this month I'll be going to a comedy evening organised by some of my professors. I went there last year as well, and it was a lot of fun.

ZenWan: Thank you! And a big +1 and my sincere admiration for what you do for those children and their families. You must be an empath to relate to them and their families so quickly and so deeply , but that means it's extra hard, and very draining, for you to deal with their pain and loss and bewilderment. They are blessed to have you there.
avatar
ddickinson: Thank you, that is very sweet of you to say. I do not do anything really, I just spend a little time with them and try to cheer them up however I can. It can be quite draining, but overall it is worth it, and it definitely helps me put things into perspective in life.
I think you undervalue yourself and what you do for them. :-)
But you're right, it surely helps to put things into perspective when you see the suffering of others, especially children.

Ah, I see. Most of the master degree programs around here last for one year, although mine will be two as well.

toxicTom: Well I got 3 stars now, but I really don't know what that would mean in Imperial ranks... Maybe it's just a regular level-up:

Vacuuming +1
Dusting off +1
Mopping +1
Throwing away stuff not used for years +4
Ninja-gifting +2

;-)
Sadly the Imperium is a dark and hard place. I am afraid all we can offer you is a promotion to sergeant. But at least you won't be a grunt anymore, and you might actually live a little longer in these grim times. :-)

avatar
toxicTom: Almost missed this.
That's a pretty awesome thing to do! Let alone considering that your farm work keeps you busy as hell and doesn't care for weekends and holidays.

*big awesomeness hug*

Need to prepare dinner now, see you all later :-)
Thank you, I think you give me too much credit. I like to keep busy, and I like to help people, so that is why I do volunteering and other things. I don't do much, I just try to help where I can and when I can.

Have a nice dinner and a good evening!

*Big thank you return hug*
I' m gone.

It's Friday, which means a glass of two of bubblies (bruto, of course), instead of 'just' wine. Time to wind down and relax with some calming music - Bach should do it, or some good jazz.

As long as I don't have to watch the news on television, that should work well.

Hope you all enjoy your evening, or the rest of your day.

Goodbye! I hope you have a nice and relaxing evening.

That's funny, it's just the other way around in the Netherlands, or at least at the faculty of arts. Maybe it's different at the other faculties over here as well, I don't really know.

FearfulSymmetry: ...
I hope you asked Moon before you changed your avatar? She does not like it when people keep putting on new faces. :-)

Could be. The whole transition to Bachelor/Master is a mess....

Is it just me or does the new release 'Albedo' really look creepy...

I'm afraid not. I'd better hide now before I get whipped. :P

I figured my avatar needed an update because spring is coming and Rosangela was wearing earmuffs in the old one. Not that you could really tell, since avatars are so tiny on here. :P

I am sure she won't mind too much. But don't make a habit of it, or she will make you change it back to the original one, just like she did Stilton. :-)
