AgentBirdnest: School me!! I actually don't know much about our own revolution. Most of my history knowledge is about the American Civil War, where we kicked
our own asses ;-)
(Seriously, though... I understand. While I certainly wouldn't mind getting torn to shreds in a history discussion with you, I'd hate for anyone else to take offense or start a
real argument.)
Please, please, do not take this with any offence, but I have found that Americans are among the worse when it comes to discussing history. You are brought up with such patriotism (which is not a bad thing, but sometimes it can be too much and cause you to appear arrogant to the rest of the world about your own nations worth) that you often are blinded by the truth if it does not fit with the American image. It causes even more problems normally because I am English, and often that is met with hostility if I try to give an alternative view on things, especially things to do with the American war of Independence or anything like that. So I prefer to keep quiet for the most part and enjoy the lovely friendship I have with Americans, rather than cause any animosity and ruin that.
If however you would like to talk about it with an open mind sometime, I would love to do so over PM.
Am I still okay for a hug after what I said?
