How are you enjoying Original Sin?
So far it's everything I'd hoped LoX was, only without the stupid parts. :-)

Speaking of Americans, Hello Endre! *big hug*
How are you tonight?

How's your night going?
My evening has been quite nice. A bit of dancing and some lovely time with partner. Now I am just winding down from the day before I get some sleep.

That's good to hear. Be sure to let me know how it goes as the game looks interesting. It's not a game I would get anytime soon, due to my huge backlog, but I will probably get it eventually.

That of course makes me think a rogue character could be a good first choice, given their general ability to find stuff other classes can't.
Then on top of that, I tended to run with a cleric for Baldur's Gate since they're incredibly hard to kill when they've got a few levels so their healing spell repertoire starts expanding.
And then on top of that, Pillars has two classes that aren't in the whole Baldur's Gate/Icewind collection called ciphers and chanters.
Ciphers use a form of psionics (mind-related magic) which I loved way back when I bought the AD&D Psionics Handbook 20 years ago, and as soon as I found that chanters weren't bards (because seriously, fuck bards unless they're Stilton, he's the only bard in the world that doesn't make me think "worthless gibbering arrow magnet"), I got interested in those too.
Have a good night, sleep well. =)

I see. *shrugs shoulders and looks confused* :-)
I can see why would want to choose a better character, one that could be better suited for a first time play-through. But would it not be more fun playing as a character you really enjoy, rather than one just because it is more evenly balanced?

Rogues find more stuff. That's good.
Clerics stay alive longer. That's good.
Ciphers have new ways of killing things. That's good.
Chanters have new ways of killing things. That's good.
And I love wizards because they end up being able to kill lots of things at once.
I can only play as one of those for my character and I can't decide.
(And people say I can't be succinct every once in a while...)
Have a good night, fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow. =)

You'll actually want to go back to those worlds to see more stuff.
Actually, that's very helpful. Thank you. =) (Also, we need to get you into a game like Icewind Dale, get you to dip your toe in that pool of water without burying you in ten tons of dialogue like Baldur's Gate 2 would.)
