Agreed, I like spicy stuff, but there's enjoyment spice and there's trying to prove something to someone via the weirdass nonsensical approach of pepper consumption-level spice.
Jars of habaneros are about as high up the scale as I'm willing to go.

Still looking forward to trying Bravely Default so I can see up close and personal what the big flaw to it is.
Fortunately, the person who bought is pretty much 100 percent guaranteed to get stuck, so my essentially swiping their game can fall under the heading of scouting it out so I can help them later. ;)

It's only small, at least it won't take up much space ;)
I've been playing it on and off for about a decade now, it's hard as nails (so you'll love it ;) ) but once you start to figure it out it's not so bad. Never actually won it, but I came pretty close once. But even that was only with save scumming...

Bravely Default is an interesting one, all I can really say without spoiling it is that it gets repetitive, but that in the end the reason why isn't too bad and the story is half decent (which is odd for a JRPG) Job system is one of the most fun I've used though.

More games to make me scream, either due to frustration of difficulty, or because they suck ass. Hooray. -laughing hard while groaning-

Interesting...a self-professed lover of grind saying that it gets repetitive. That makes me think it ends up being a super samey slog at some point.
But yeah, I'm also a sucker for a good job system. I still remember PS1 Tactics, for crying out loud.
(And how insanely powerful summoners were. That's pretty funny now. Hmm, what do I want - a thief, a chemist, or a guy who has frigging MASSIVE area of effect spells that don't harm my allies to use...)

The combat doesn't get repetitive, in fact the combats pretty great, and you can even turn random encounters off entirely if you want when exploring or just moving around. It's.. other things that are repetitive, and that's really all I can say with out telling you and spoiling it a bit...
It's definitely worth playing, and I'll be buying the sequel when it comes 100%

I'm taking a break from 'replying', it just gets me into big trouble with editing when the posts are long. My ADD-limited attention span can't cope, so I open a few more tabs on Firefox instead and quite forget that I was supposed to be writing a post, or - worse - editing one.

So - goodevening gunsynd, how is Oz these days? Any fresh dangerous bugs discovered yet? ;-)

Crow, thanks for the mention of Tales of Maj’Eyal - I checked it out and was stunned at how cheap it is, so without even going via my Wishlist, I threw it in my cart. Funny word, that, I keep looking for a horse...

Who knows when I'll ever have time to actually play the game - judging by what you said about its length, I could be dead by the time I get around to it, never mind download it.
But the fun is in the acquiring, right, not the playing? <big grin>

Not yet, still got a boss and a temple to finish off in LoX and then whatever the endgame entails. Hopefully get it done tonight, or this week anyway and then make a start on Halfway. Although all this talk of roguelikes makes me want to play ToME XD

Editing is a serious pain, to be sure. I have the Barefoot Essentials script that makes it a lot easier to do, and I still screw it up a lot of the time.

Not a problem, Tales looks like a really big RPG with a lot to do, so it's definitely worth a mention.
It being pretty cheap at retail price and crazily cheap during the sale right now makes it even more appealing for anyone who likes such games.
Also, I'm now thinking of merchants with horse-pulled carts. That must've been an incredibly crappy way to make a living.

If it's any consolation, you're far from the only person with a serious backlog. If yours can be cleared in a year or less, you're doing a LOT better than some of us. -laughs-

Acquisition is good to a point, until something in the person's head finally says, "Okay, this is getting out of hand, you need to wrap this up already and actually switch over to playing before you're just a digital hoarder."



They had me at the combo of a serious job system and an interesting looking mechanic in choosing how aggressively you want to fight.
I've done JRPG's before, I'm not expecting the second coming of Final Fantasy 6.

Dear gods, that would be amazing if Square came out and said that all the super-pretty, ultra anime-style crap in their FF15 cutscenes was a massive goof, and they're actually doing 15 like a Super Nintendo game.
Any part of the net with an interest in games would absolutely lose its mind.

Good luck to you with finishing that one off. It was slogtastic enough to drive me away, but I'll still be clearing it, probably when I can get my hands on a GOG copy.
For now, I have the consolation prizes of Dark Souls, Legend of Grimrock, Paper Sorcerer, DOW 2 Retribution, Nihilumbra's ridiculously difficult hard more, a replay of Escape Goat 1, Wasteland 1 and a final triple run of Borderlands 2 to keep me busy.
Also need to finally drive a stake through the heart of the pain in my ass known as Super Meat Boy...
